Guristas Burner and Overheating Microwarp II

I've been doing the Guristas Burner solo in an Enyo for a while and I've noticed something.
Sometimes my prop mod will burn out so fuckin fast that of course I die. If you can't reach
the enemy and get the scram online, then you're dead. I have thermodynamics V, and I've
done some testing. I should have 25seconds with the pro mod on overheated and not
burn it out. But I fuckin swear, sometimes it burns out faster than others, this last time it
lasted about 10seconds before it was toast. I did this exact mission with this exact fit last
week, and was successful.

Is overheating consistent?

Here's my fit:

ENYO:

Light Neutron Blaster II x4

Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Small Electrochemical Cap Booster I
5mn Y-T8 Compact Microwarp Drive

Overdrive Injector System II
Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Small Armor Repairer II

Small Auxiliary Thrusters II x2

Here's a link to a video of what exactly I'm doing: Guristas Burner Mission

Here is some science on the matter

Thanks for the article. Here's my answer: "Just like ECM electronic warfare – another chance-based mechanism –
heat damage can be very unpredictable, and will not be the same every time you overheat."

Problem is that the fit and approach are too tight to be successful every time, I'll have to find another way.

The other thing the article says is the algorithm for how the heat is spread is unknown, you might try to put it in the middle (on the fitting screen not on the overview) as it may change the chance of spreading the heat?!?

try this if u can

[Enyo, guriburner worm ]
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Coreli B-Type 5MN Microwarpdrive
Caldari Navy Warp Scrambler
Gistii A-Type Small Shield Booster

Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator II
Small Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer II

Warrior I x1

fast, tanky enough and more dps. with speed implants you could change an overdrive for an MFS for ~ 430 dps

i use this all day long. bit more isk but if you spend it one time the money is in a short time

Thanks Ploing,

Are you overheating your prop mod to reach your target?

I was also thinking of trying a daredevil. I do need something that's
reliable every time. At this point I'm losing ships too often.

Thx

daredevil is very reliable. I usually overload for 1 cycle and get a scram not too long after. The DD will catch the worm without ever overloading but it takes a bit longer. Fit in this post (plus I have a zor's): https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5006759#post5006759

the dangerous part: when overloading you are faster than the missiles, so when you slow down you get hit by 2 volleys. I always overload a hardener when I land in complex for a little extra safety, and you might want to have the rep overloaded and start cycling it about the time you either switch off the overload or get the scram on.

honestly the mission is pretty boring now, spend most of the time at ~500m shooting overloaded void into the worm's tailpipes. maybe cycling the cap booster once or twice.

Use T1/faction MWD. All T2 mods burn out faster - they're relatively crappy for overheating.

That said, you'd need a minimum 2 Overdrive Injectors (no implants) on the Enyo to catch the Guristas Worm reliably. Overheat speed you need to aim for should be ~4300m/s or higher.
If you want to be safer, use an OGB for the extra speed boost.

Overheat both MWD + scrambler and approach asap when you warp in. Turn off overheat asap once you have it pointed. If you do it right, you'd only need to overheat 2-3 cycles.
Quickly switch to keep at range (Void optimal) and turn off the MWD, the rest is just easy cap and repper management.
