Destroying Station Containers

Why is there a wait time of 3 weeks attached to destroying station containers? Where even if I open it accidently in that time it gets reset? There must be an easier way without contracting the containers to an unsuspecting player.

I posted here because it seems to be something that must be very easy to answer but I am not a new player.

Thanks in advance Shocked

Plain station containers or Audit Log station containers?

If Audit Log, it's because those have special lock/unlock timers and I guess CCP wants to make sure that the logs of who took what don't get destroyed easily / give CEO / Directors enough time to react to a corp theft scenario.

All of the station cans (ones that have station in the name) are actually audit log cans too and there is no way to get around this besides MAYBE a GM? I only ever use freighter containers because not only do they not have the 3-week log crap, they can also fit in a freighter for moving base and maintaining organization in the process.

I have been looking for a work-around of this same problem for the past 6 years. If such a workaround does exist it it either the best hidden secret in all of video gaming or I am just not that good at finding stuff.

Only work around I ever heard of was to station trade them to an alt character and then delete the alt. Or just leave them with the alt. Either way the point being the containers no longer being in your main's inventory.

Re-name the containers to 'Officer Modules'.

Open trade with random person in the station.

Place container in trade window and click accept.

That....is glorious. Now I'm actually quite annoyed I never thought of that myself when trying to get rid of those #$%#ing things.

Would be funny if the random person also places a container named "PLEX payment" in the trade box for your "Officer Modules" and then accepts. All empty, of course.

Where you in Amarr, by chance?

Clarification: Tickle Industries if giving out presents to the population of Amarr. For two days now we have given out gifts and content in form of station containers. 250 station containers are being built right now and will be gifted in groups of five to whoever wants them. No catch! No scam!

Tickle Industries! We provide - We deliver!

I initially used station containers then moved onto non audit log containers because the default state for placing items in the can was locked. SUPER annoying. But yeah, trade it.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

This was changed quite a while ago. Nowadays station containers are unlocked as of standard so you just have to assemble them and perhaps give them a name.

Nine station containers were delivered. Pixie refused to do a fourth run for a single container. That's what you get when you have kids. I can, of course, force her to deliver the last one as well.
