That way, CCP can get some details about it. (some logs are copied, when you do the submit within the game)

After all, it's obviously (First report I've seen) not a common problem, so it's likely something semi specific to your computer.
Actually I was under the impression this was a very common problem. It's always happened, for like years. Every now and then, either half or the whole screen goes white. If you zoom right out, sometimes it will stop, and if you change to something like planetary view and back it will sometimes fix it. I know it's happened to at least myself, my rl mates and a good number of people I've been in corps with. I just figured CCP didn't particularly care about it.

After a bunch of testing, I have come up with a solution to this apparently commonplace problem that has been going back for years. It involves a very simple, yet specific action that you must take in-game in order to rectify things.

Stop exploding Pirate NPC's! See, easy peezy - go explode players instead and this problem will resolve itself! I accept ISK donations for my troubleshooting services, as much or as little as you can afford.

Welp, sounds like it's more common than I thought (This was the first I'd heard Smile ) Sorry about that.

Still, bug reports, while the problem is occurring, are good. I can only imagine how hard it is to run this kind of problem to ground, when you only have the end effect, rather than the state. (correlation tends to help, so reports from multiple people tends to be useful. Multiple reports from a single person, not so much.)

I _suspect_ it's probably something along the lines of 'this kind of graphics card, with driver X or Y, with shader settings Z (and so on)' that causes it.

And in that vien, the more bug reports CCP gets the more data points they have, the more likely they are to be able to find a root cause to the issue.

I know this used to happen to me, before I updated my graphics card to a newer model (this was several years ago, so it's not new now I want to say it's a 440 series NVidia). I can honestly say it has never happened with this card, and these drivers, and the settings I play Eve at.

I had that happen a couple of times when someone exploded at Jita undock, alt-tabbing out of Eve and back fixed the problem. HP laptop, GeForce 620-something.

No, it happens to me too. Maybe about once every two months. I'm on a Mac, so its a cross platform bug.

That happens occasionally. I've had it happen for years. It'll go away for a few months, CCP will patch something and it'll be fixed for a while. Rinse and repeat. It happens when mining, ratting, gate camps...

I was going to chastise the OP for linking a picture that was obviously very old (neocom icons as well as ship icons) but as I read the balance of the thread .. I realized that I too have experienced a form of this. My screen has never gone all white, but I do get strange graphical artifacts flailing around in space that seem to be centered on an explosion. Doesn't happen often and I can't seem to predict it nor trigger it.

My apologies OP for my evil thoughts. I shall now dock up and think about my ways.

I've had this happen on and off since I started playing, I've turned off ship explosions and missile explosions(?) and it doesn't happen any more unless I turn on the effects.

I have talked to quite a few people that get the same problem and have started a thread and sent a bug report, if more bug reports are needed I can supply plenty.

I can understand how one dev doesn't know about it but somebody who works for CCP surely does.

I've been seeing this as well, but with other things in life taking priority, I just hadn't submitted a bug report when it happens. Currently running an NVIDIA Geforce GTS 250, but it happens on other types of cards (and other computers) as well.

I'm glad the thread didn't get derailed and locked because of the 'whut?' response. A group of trolls poisoning threads can actively prevent fixes to the game.

I've seen it on occasion but it's rare enough that I couldn't care less and only seems to happen under specific circumstances. Moving the camera around or something as ships are exploding. It clears up after a few seconds, moving the camera or after warping and is hardly worth a rant. In any case doesn't this belong in issues and workarounds?

It'll be fixed right after the "blues showing as neutrals in station" bug.
