Hi all o/

Hopefully this information comes in handy for someone and gives a CCP dev another job in the queue.

I have been playing EVE just fine since Carnyx was released. Today I noticed that some of the textures weren't loading, and then I noticed some artifacting, just minor, when looking at a star. Same results even after restarting PC & EVE - see https://i.imgur.com/DRXSCYX.png

It appears that the game client is not downloading content on demand like it should be.

So I have now tried to run repair.exe, it fails to start with the same SSL certificate error that is discussed in this thread - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=427285&find=unread

I run rescache.exe, there is something like 53 corrupted files, 44000 odd missing, 5.75GB worth, I begin downloading. This is where I discover that launcher.exe is not configured to download all client content, so I have now turned that on for future reference.

All client data downloaded, tried running repair.exe again just to make sure. Still get the same SSL cert check fail error.

Try to reinstall launcher.exe as mentioned by CCP Bartender, in the hopes that it might magically fix the repair tool - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=warning&l=http%3a%2f%2fccpcommunity.zendesk.com%2fhc%2fen-us%2farticles%2f203183482&domain=zendesk.com still no luck.

All of the textures appear to be loading properly now. Repair tool is still boned. Launcher is working fine as pre-release. Happily playing for now, at least until my next launcher issue - I have had a few in the past year.

I'm pretty sure the repair tool is no longer supported for fixing download issues. I will check and report back to see if it's supported for any purpose at all.

I've never had a problem with the repair tool until now, it just won't start at all. It always fixed my launcher when there was a problem. Of course, I haven't logged on in a little over a week so maybe that explains it?

Well the repair tool doesn't do anything right now. I think that's the issue people are having.

Do we need it? If we don't can we delete it?

Yaay!!!!
