There was a crime here, and the punishment was swift and just.

If you are hauling with a BR there is no need to buffer tank it, it may help, it may not, it's best to just not put it in a position where it can be caught.

This crime is in fact worse than it seems. It appears this kill occurred while the victim was suspect flagged or flagged for a limited engagement with the aggressor.

I cannot begin to imagine how he ended up in that situation with 31b in his cargohold.

It's possible but 3 months old, 0.0 sec status and a lossmail that suggests mining. If I really have to guess I'd say he looted a yellow wreck figuring he could instawarp, instadock, or simply didn't appreciate or understand the risk of going suspect.

Am I the only one who first read the title of this as 'butter tank'?

I disagree with this although I'm not a fan of how HE fit his Viator if it needs a buffer tank your probably screwed. Those things shouldn't get caught in High Sec ever

I hadn't actually checked for a CONCORD lossmail on the nado...turns out there isn't one. He was indeed suspect in a 31b ISK Viator.

I think if you are hauling to a highsec hub it should be in something that can take at least one volley from a ganknado.

definitely should have fitted a butter tank.
slippery makes for harder to lock.
plus if you also fit a garlic injector system you'll be super tasty when roasted.

on a side note, going suspect in jita in a non-combat vessel?
the things I miss by avoiding that cesspit.

I think that guy shot at my cloaky hauler yesterday. I had a tank. I lived. Nado didn't.

I recently used a Proteus to haul 8bil into jita. However that's because i'm lazy more then anything else. The use of insta docks and cloaky fast warping ships (viator) negates most of the risk of anything but a dc if you fly it right. I used to haul our mothly site running loot from w-space utilizing a viator because it was too bulky for a T3. The worst thing I ever encountered was a Smartbombing maller and that wasn't enough to come close to killing my viator. It had no chance of surviving a gank Nado so I never took the risk it might have too. I certainly never docked/undocked suspect tho...

I too hate jita. The community in more regional hubs are much nicer and more easily engageable in conversation

Had some giggles in Amarr.
At least half of what goes on in local there seems to be bored people jabbering at each other.
I didn't stay long, short attention span and all... also I'm pretty sure I was drunk.

I don't always loot yellow wrecks on the 4-4 undock...but when I do, I prefer to use an untanked blockade runner loaded with 31 billion in cargo.

My immediate thought was that he had scooped the loot from someone else who had just been popped and got popped himself before he could dock. While not the smartest choice of ships for such duty, that would be at least somewhat rational. But, there is no corresponding first kill in that chain, so it couldn't be that.

Looks like idiocy wins again.
