Major Performance Problem Since Patch

Before the last patch, I would run EVE on max settings, except turning shadows off, and always have between 30 and 50 FPS.

Now, when I am running a mission, and the rats start shooting energy weapons at me, once there are more than 6 or so rats, my FPS drops to 5 or 6.

Anyone have the same issue?

Weapons fire (especially a lot of it, like when you run missions) has always had noticeable impact on fps performance. Best thing to do if it's hitting you hard is to either toggle turret effects off in graphics settings or lower some other settings to compensate.

I haven't logged in yet since the last patch (sorry I didn't catch that), but if performance is changed that drastically since then, than something got bugged.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

This sounds a lot like you're having problems with Download On Demand over a slow connection. I would first try opening the launcher settings (gear icon in the upper right,) going to the Download tab, and clicking the "Download all the resource files" checkbox. Then exit and reopen the launcher.

If you have done this, completed your download, and you're still experiencing FPS issues, please press F12 in game and click on "Report Bug," then submit a bug report. Doing so from in-game will submit information about your system and software configurations that may allow our graphics QA team to reproduce the problem.

I will say that what you describe is not normal, and if the "Download all the resource files" checkbox doesn't fix it, you should definitely submit a bug.

Having the same problem. I did as you advised and actually noticed some improvement but there were still problems

the most severe was getting the message that I was still inside the forcefield of my POS while visibly outside.

Anyways, bug report filed!

Trying the download all fix at the moment, still a large chunk left to download, will report back after I have tried a few missions.

I also noticed a big drop in framerate (in all conditions) after the latest patch.

I had a look at my graphics card settings and switched the anti-aliasing filter from "Edge Detect" to "Standard" (using ATI Catalyst Control Center) and that seemed to improve things.

I wonder if the new V5++ renderer is causing the graphics card to see more edges?

Edit: For reference, I have all resources downloaded (both before and after patch)

Downloading all resources didn't really help.

I am still seeing a massive drop in FPS with anything more than about 10 NPC's shooting at me. Some 70% or so loss.

Sure, NPC fire used to cause an FPS hit before, but nowhere near this bad.

I'll bug it.

Same, I have download all checkbox marked.

But I still have the spinny wheel in the left bottom corner.

I two have a weird fps problem.

~24 players/ships in space, all standing still, no one is shooting. Suddenly the fps drops to 30 but is very sluggish, after ~5 seconds it is back up to 60. While it happens when no one is doing anything (as far as I can see), it's more likely to accrue when we fight.

I did no camera rotation, the monitor does not catch any exceptions Dl on Demand is off. Dx9 vs 11 does not make a difference. Looking away from the ships into empty space does _not_ help.

Stuff that I did test:

* Disabling Download on demand
* removing cache
* removing settings
* Sisi test server

It's super random and hard to reproduce, but it's still there. I just updated windows and my driver, but both nvidia and AMD users have this Problem. Will test it tomorrow again and maybe send in a bugreport.

Have been experiencing increased click delays since the last major patch as have some other ppl I've spoken to. Also today many of us have been experiencing issues with the camera centering. Sometimes when you select an object on the over view the camera seems to get lost trying to align towards it. One person described it as "drunk". I've noticed that if I activate a directional scan, the scan seems to behave as though the camera is aimed properly even though it is visibly still wandering around slowly.

Just noticed from the patch notes:
"Fixed the tracking camera moving erratically when the new map is docked, and made various other small improvements to the general functionality of the tracking camera."

Whatever was done seems to have broken more than it fixed. Drunken camera is pretty annoying.

Update: Issues getting worse tonight. Frame rate dropping to 30 then back to 60. Client says 16 ms latency but button clicks are not responding and client seems to be freezing up for a few seconds at a time then suddenly everything catches up. Had to call it a night and just quit before it cost me a ship.

And for god's sake fix the launcher. Way too broken for way too long. Even the so called repair tool just gives an error message.
