Suggestion to "lighten" the moderation on the forum

Current moderation on the forum is in my opinion overly strict and at the same time without any consistency.
The nature of a forum about EVE is that most subjects has been touched before since there is only so much to talk about.

It doesn't promote discussion to have moderators locking threads that touches something that been up before, same thing with making a sticky collection about 10 different subject and locking any thread talking about something that resembles one of these subjects.

for the moderators: im happy to demonstrate this by spending a hour or two some day and just report any subject that's been touched before.

Am all for moderation of rude and offensive posts as well as deliberate spam but let us create subjects with (for this forum) specific suggestion without locking them due to someone touched the area before.

Or create 3 thread and lock the forum
1. ship changes
2. character changes
3 other...

you seem to have forgotten that discussing moderation on the forums is grounds for immediete lock of a thread.

CCP has very clear cut rules for forum regulation, they are neither overly strict or suppressive. Instead all of these other threads rehashing everything to death simply clog up the forum and prevent discussion of ideas already in place by pushing them back page after page.

Not sure if that's right but if it is i find it very funny. If the rules prevent you for discussing changing the rules, thats actually close to the definition of repressive Big smile

If you aren't happy with forum moderation, the correct action to take is file a petition.

Two of my threads been locked by Dorrim. Took 4 weeks to figure that out with support team that me better to submit bug report vs petition strong judgement of Dorrim.

CCP is a company enforcing its own standards. If you don't like them, I'm sure you'll be welcome at the dozens of other boards with their own rule sets.

I understand where you are coming from, however the spirit of the redundancy rule in my opinion is to focus discussions into single threads. If an idea was suggested in 2006 and hasn't been discussed since then, I don't believe any of us will actually lock it for redundancy. Put yourself in a Dev's position, and they want to read feedback on a particular issue or discover novel ideas. It'd be an inefficient waste of their time to have to go through several threads to find the core of the thought or idea. We try and synthesize it so it is easier for them.

But when the first couple pages of a board have a subject discussed ad nauseum, we certainly will lock them up and direct them to a single thread.

Regardless, please use the Support Ticket system to discuss moderation issues with our overlords.
