So when are the Caldari optimal range bonuses going to become useful?

Personally, I think it will probably happen when Caldari ships get their own specialized point ranges. I.E long point = 50~70km. With enough tiericide, it could become a fair mechanic and add a new layer to gameplay.

Sure, so long as it's not ISDs.

Plenty of caldari ships use their optimal range bonuses without your absurd 70km point ranges for caldari ships

Rokh Sniper setups, Naga Sniper setups, Vultures and Ferox mid range rails or extended range blasters. to name a few.

Also it is worth noting that the Caldari are the premier missile faction, hybrid weapons for them are a secondary weapons system with drones as a tertiary system, granted just not all at once.

I wasn't talking about 70 km point ranges. I was talking about 70km point ranges which are ineffective below 50km. I.E you have a certain band of point radius around your ship which you need to be aware of.

They're already useful. The "problem" is it doesn't alter "paper DPS" so it tends to be undervalued by the masses.

Naga fleet with faction long point equipped Arazu/Keres support.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So you are positioning that a fleet of sniper rokhs and/or naga arent usefull at killing people from ~250km? thats an odd position to be in i guess:S

That said the idea of "long range points with a minimum range" isnt even terrible as such... IF you want everyone kiting like a loonietoon... And your argumentation for why we need this is full of holes

psst....bring support to lock em down, then snipe them.

You are using caldari rails wrong. You use range to be in as deep in most race's falloff as you can, if not out of range entirely. They shoot you for less damage (if any), and you just pelt them with rail fire. Is it dps of doom? No. It is constant though and adds up over time. May be the death of a 1000 paper cuts worst case...but it is death to the target.

Any ship is good with support. Support proves nothing.
