I also have mediacom and cannot even download the launcher from CCP, until I tried a VPN. Installed the file on the PC and yep, no luck it just sits there.

Think of the lost sales CCP is having when people go to their website and try to download the client and they can't even download the file. Anything that takes it's assets from cdn1.eveonline.com...

My 1yr sub expires in a few days. I am not re-subbing until there are posts on here that it is fixed. I have half a mind to ask for a refund on the last 4 months... but at this point we don't even know if it's CCP's fault.

The game is currently unplayable for me. Sure, I'm connected at the moment but I have to relog every ten minutes because assets stop loading. Burned out all of my modules trying to get the hell out of a level 3 mission just now because my drones stopped working and most of the art assets and half the system assets vanished from the UI. I had this problem yesterday when entering the Hek system and had to re-log to even select a station to dock in. It's gotten progressively worse throughout the day and started around noon CST, re-logging doesn't solve it since I either get a black screen upon loading the game or a ship-less view of the station interior background with an up and down panning camera effect. When I undock, my ship is just a black silhouette with guns until I jump through a gate.

You can't DOD (Download on Demand) as I stated earlier.

Load the launcher -> top right gear-> Download -> check the download all the resource files.

Wait until midnight and keep relaunching the launcher until the back drop immediately appears. It was like 12:13 am before something gave and let me in.

Then you'll download the entire game in about an hour without freezing and noticeable percentage ticks. Might slow down at the end.

From their, you should be able to play the game just fine. I'm running 4 accounts at the same time which apparently is under w/e traffic cap that is in place.

Before this thread gets hijacked by unrelated stuff, any more than it is, I would like to ask, has anyone seen any resolution to this?

My tickets were closed.

Now they are pushing out back-to-back patches and I am not able to play at all, multiple days a week.

CCP doesn't seem to be doing anything to resolve this, as they say it's a Mediacom issue, while Mediacom says it is not their fault, CCP has to resolve this.

I was able to use the service at www.privatetunnel.com to connect and download the patch.

It worked instantly, connected and updated, etc.

This seems like a very effective workaround until Mediacom and CCP can figure out who's fault this is.

I'm hearing that VPN's are a good way to go unless you can wait until after midnight.

Use a VPN to download the patches, once everything is done you can then use your own network to play.

Denmark(!) checking in, same problem (as of a few days ago).

Whomever is technially responsible for this issue, the problem seem to be spreading geographically. I just posted about this in the Mac forum, believing this to be a Mac client issue, as I had updated my gaming PC a few days ago without issues.

For me the 'fix' was the same, use a VPN service.

So maybe CCP ought to check into this in detail sooner rather than later, before more areas of the world are affected. Just a thought...?

Not really. I update every morning, right after downtime and can play fine up until late afternoon/early evening. The problem isn't getting the updates, it's being able to log into the game once I close the launcher. I try not to but power outages happen or I have to leave and shut down my PC,. When I try to launch the game the launcher won't connect. If I want to play in the evenings, I have to leave the launcher up and running all day or wait until after midnight to get back in. It's been this way since February and is finally starting to get looked into.

For you, a good thing to do would be get the updates as you have described and then launch the game from

\eve online\bin\exefile.exe

Once my client and resource cache is up to date I can play just fine with exefile.exe bypassing launcher

If it was just the launcher we could get around it, it is a connectivity issue between SE USA customers and their content delivery network (CDN) . It even affects the downloads on the website.

I think that it is some type of bandwidth throttling error going on, because it is repeatable and presents the same way every evening during SE USA prime time. Here I am, another patch day, and cannot log into the game because I cannot patch.

Mediacom says it is a problem with the backbone to cdn and there is nothing they can do about it.

Maybe CCP can't afford enough guaranteed bandwidth with the cdn and SE USA is who they decided to stick it to.

Come on CCP. You have an office in Atlanta. Why can't we update and play your game during primetime? I could drive to Atlanta with my computer, update directly from your server and drive home quicker than what your launcher allows me to update with.

This has been going on for months, you need to address this. This is in your back yard, I think you would be interested in someone throttling your players access to your game. That is cutting into your profits!!!

It looks like this has been fixed "magically." It's a miracle!

Why do people think issues with connectivity to CCP servers is somehow CCP's fault? You all should have been complaining about this on Mediacom's website.

Because the issue appeared to be well upstream of Mediacom, and ultimately a certain portion of what I pay CCP for is content delivery. Their CDN was not delivering content to me while ALL other CDNs (Amazon, Google, etc.) were.

Also, multiple posters in this thread posted about this on Mediacom's two major forums, and I opened a support ticket with the CDN (Highwinds).

Many of us experienced these issues starting in February, so we have paid CCP for months of content that was not being delivered in a timely manner.

I pay Mediacom, CCP, and by extension Highwinds to do this job (content delivery) for me. Why did we the user base ultimately have to do all the work in this case?

Who's fault it was among those three is immaterial, the owner of the content (CCP) has a burden to make sure that it's distributor of said content (Highwinds) and the carrier of said content (Level3, AT&T, Mediacom, whoever) were holding up their end of the bargain.

Why is it that an enterprising user on these forums is having to host torrents of the updates on his personal server, if CCP's content delivery system is so great?

No. CCP has to make sure its servers are up an running, and that their service with their ISP in Iceland is working. That should be where the line of demarcation ends.

This whole debacle sounds like Mediacom uses traffic shaping during peak usage. Hence why the speeds picked back up after midnight. I would have dropped that ISP in a heartbeat.

Devils advocate, why would Mediacom pick this one MMO to traffic shape? I can play anything/do anything else during the same hours. Yes my speed over all goes down during peak, but EVE assets (even the ones hosted on their website like the forum) were absolutely CRAWLING.

First rule of customer service for good companies is to understand the problem. First rule of customer service for bad companies is to blame user error or in this case the ISP.

Regardless, it appears to be fixed now.
