This morning YC 117.06.02 at approximately 0100 hours, Liberty Vanguard was involved in a reconnaissance capacity with neutral organization, Scope Works, during a fleet operation. Further details regarding the fleet operation will not be disclosed in order to honor operational security.

During the operation, a pilot member of the Minmatar Militia was engaged and destroyed, despite Liberty Vanguard's public stance as non-hostile to Minmatar Militia pilots and assets. This engagement was the result of a lack of proper attention to detail prior to the engagement and resulted in the destruction of a Minmatar Militia pilot's vessel and likely the loss of lives of crew.

It is with the utmost humility and remorse that I wish to extend my personal apology for this heinous misstep in operations. The Minmatar Militia pilot in question has already been contacted and the situation has been resolved according to the satisfaction of the pilot and the remaining crew.

Any loss of life as a result of this engagement is being investigated and the families of any lost crew will be contacted and reparations made to the best of my ability.

This statement was made public because a breach of protocol and a crime against one's own principles requires repentance.

It is my hope that this incident does not sully the potential for improved relations with the Minmatar Militia and its pilots overmuch.

Too many pilots would avoid making such a post. Only the victims of this attack and their kin can forgive you, but I will make note of your integrity.

I hope you learned a lesson today.

I don't know the situation, but, I will say that even when I was in Scope Works closely allied with the TLF, including groups like Iron Oxide, the Periphery, etc we would still occasionally have to engage pilots who didn't know, did care, or were doing something otherwise to provoke us. It doesn't mean we weren't on that side, doing good work for the Huola Coalition.

Still, I think your heart is in the right place Liam, and it makes me happy to see you talk about this openly.

I cannot speak for my brothers and sisters, but I thank you for your apology and your recognition of the crew's lives.

There's the bit that really matters.

Is the rest of this some kind of pre-emptive PR move, or you beating yourself up in public?

You seem like a pretty decet fellow, Msr Antolliere, and seem to have done the right thing. Contacting the wronged party is really the most important step in any such unfortunate exchange.

I would urge you not to lose sleep over this, though. You've shown your integrity, not that you needed to, and this IS war. Accidents happen and sometimes they happen to our allies. All that can be done is to pay our reparations and accept our part in events when the time comes, then move on and hope to be the better for it.

Didn't you run from us yesterday Aldrith? As far as the lives lost, speaking for myself, I truly am sorry. I however wasn't involved in this act of aggression. I have full intention to use more caution in the warzone for what I personally would consider friendly fire even as a non entity, though I can't promise anything. I have to worry about my own crew as well. The joys of neutrality I guess...

Should we expect an IGS post every time a Tribal frigate gets blown up or is this the only time, honest?

Matters like this should be resolved internally, with those at harm and those at gain reaching the terms, not making public announcements. While I understand you're trying to keep up the image of a 'Tribal friend', pushing on this apologetic rhetoric any further would make it backfire at worst, or make it seem sleazy at best. I'd advise to let your actions speak louder than your words.

You clearly understand very little, Monsieur Caine.

Our actions do speak louder than our words, which is why such an early breach of our protocol had to be handled publicly, in order to demonstrate the sincerity of our desire to be true to our words with our actions.

It's not the words of the apology that matter, but the act of apologizing that was important. It's been done as was necessary.

If I require any further public relations or diplomatic advice from the Cartel, I'll be sure to ask you.

Wars have uncertain endings. That said, making reparations is the decent thing to do.

I haven't laughed this heartily at a post on the IGS since Pieter's grumpy old man blockade.

Smug intonations aside, I do admire what you are doing Mr. Antolliere. Just be more weary of the company you keep. You are a lit match in a dark expanse, and it would be easy for you to be snuffed out if you get caught in the wrong wind.

With any luck the Gallente side of capsuleerdom might know what it's like to have someone with a bit of moral backbone amongst them.
