Launcher only opens with no internet connection

This has been happening since april, I used to get around it with the repair tool, but no longer can. The launcher will only open in offline mode, if i try to open it while connected to the internet, it wont appear but exist as a process in task manager. Please any help is appreciated.

welp found out its a giant ass virus. time to purge my pc

Check your date and time, I had that recently on my 2nd comp and guessing my daughter messed with it and it was set to 2013 and a few hours off, once I put it to the correct date and time, I was no longer stuck in offline mode and launcher went back to normal.
