Unfortunately EVE voice volume cannot be modified other then by the person on the other side. The "Voice" volume slider is for your ship computer lady (Aura) that says "Warp Drive Active".

Yes we know it sucks that you can't change it on a game in this day and age but...meh it's what you got fro in-game.

Most of us will simply ask each other to turn up or down and we'll have the courtesy to change it for each other

Sadly no, EVE has this 90's charm about it; many things don't make any sort of sense in the modern world.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

It's 2011 and your corp isn't using external voice comms, maybe you should look into that instead of impotently whining

Mumble.
Ventrillo.
Teamspeak.
Skype.

Also try adjusting your game sounds to the level of EVEVoice, then decrease your headset volume.

Personally, I rarely play with sound enabled in EVE. (obligatory "EVE has sound?")

Pretty much this. I prefer to not use voice chat that comes bundled with a game, as they tend to suck most of the time. Mumble and Skype are both free, and renting or hosting your own TS or Ventrilo server should be pretty cheap as well.

I'm pretty sure you could get a basic 5-10 slot VoIP server for free. Might have changed though.

VoIP programs like TS3 give a lot more flexibility with options and the like. EVEvoice just isn't up to the par in technical terms.
