Hey guys,

I have a CNR in my possession. Used to run a lot of hi sec missions and it used to come in handy. I never actually got round to fitting it 'properly' with x4 damage mods and maybe a few faction bits here and there. I got it from a friend with one CN BCU in place and I just left it at that. It never really had the best of tanks or best of DPS mainly because I don't have t2 cruise missile launcher skill and never had the money for a proper faction fit....so I guess I've always been a little disappointed with it in some ways.

In any case I've not missioned for a very long time mainly being in null sec/low sec and having access to null sec anoms/ratting. I don't feel particularly inclined to use it in null so I left it in hi-sec. Now I've come back into hi-sec to re organise my assets before I relocate elsewhere in null and my nostalgia of having a CNR is preventing me from selling it lol...simply because back of my head there is 'what if I need it' question.

Now I know the CNR is still classed as a very good PvE ship, I don't know if its any use for incursions, but I don't forsee myself using it in null at least not unless I get much richer than I am soon. Anyway long story short.....I'm looking to sell it off as I don't feel I have m,ade best use of it and am not likely going to use it....ships I have in made to use instead if I did have a need for missions or incursions would be a nighthawk...and a ship I would take into null for pvp and pve. (Tengu again too much)

Now what do you guys reckon?

Sell the CNR and use the isk for a nighthawk (or two if I lose it lol) or should I just keep it in the garage for later use when I'm back in empire doing stuff. Money isn't an issue...its whether I would miss it or not if I was to fly a nighthawk instead, which I have not yet had the oppurtunity to.

Cheers guys!!

If your CNR isn't rigged, sell it. If it is T1 rigged, sell it in a contract. If it is T2 rigged, you don't need the money, and you think you might use it later on (or want to give it away to a friend) then keep it.
If you do sell it on contract, go to a hub to do so (preferrably Jita, but any will do). You'll see other folks selling theirs and can get a general idea as to the price. Expect to sell it for around the combined buy prices of the combined ship/rigs.

I'm assuming you mean macherial or nightmare?

I can fit t2 large lasers and very close to t2 large mini guns. Most of my skills are trained for these ships in anycase...I've been pvping for the most part and then ratting in a pvp drake when the pew is slow. So by 'real' ship a suggestion would be cool? :) But I'm not looking really for any hi sec any time soon....null sec anomalies and possibly incursions are where I will be at. My idea of a nighthawk which I can fly but haven't? (Or absolution which I can also fly).

T1 rigged only - its waiting in jita lol to sell on contract once I make my mind up.

Both of you have said sell it. Any insight into the thought process? Thanks again.

EDIT ps. I do have a t2 weapon apoc which is pve fitted for some very weird reason lol...I could just stick with this. I guess what I'm wondering is good ship for solo/fleet null sec anomalies/plex and possibly incursions. Choice of shield and armor would be good as fleets change depending on FC and situation and I can fly either pretty well. Maelstrom for shield? Apoc/domi for armor? Maybe nighthawk for solo/fun/pvp?

I was in a similar situation and I sold all my of my missions ships to open up more cash for the market.

Sell it, a Tengu will outperform it and will feel confortably familiar.

I'd go for a Machariel or a Tengu, if I were you.

A Mach would work great for level 4 and Incursions. Tengu is nice for all kinds of stuff, but mostly used for level 4 missions.

A Nighthawk is just a slightly better Drake, whilst the Tengu is one of the best PvE ships in EVE.

BUT

You could also just improve the efficiency of your CNR:

Hammerhead II x5
Hobgoblin II x5

All V, no imps.
860 DPS
~600 Omnitank

Can be cheaper if you use specific hardeners or just a T2 Invul.

Well the best mission runners from best to worst are (BS type):
Mach>Vargur>Golem>Vindicator>CNR>Kronos>Nightmare>Paladin.

Vindicator is great if you fit it with shild tanking. Does around 920 DPS with rails on 50+ optimal range with t1 Antimatter.
Right now I do missions on this ship and I like it. I have 4 heavy drones on it, and in-game on a fitting screen it shows 1173 total DPS. For some missions I use 4 sentries and it works well.
Personally I think this is the best ship for missions atm, because you shoot stuff very fast at 50+km with 0 problems.

Last two are the worst because you can't change damage type on lasers so it makes hard to do missions if you're not fighting Blood raiders, drones or mercs.

Nighthawk is so-so because it does kinetic damage mostly. If you change damage to other type DPS will drop dramaticly.

Also Navy Domi rocks because you can do 1000+ DPS with rails and sentries combined. This is a very good ship.

Mach and nightmare at present are out of my budget. Won't be able to get them anytime soon, not if I want to feed my pvp addiction. Tho the mach is an awesome pvp ship I'm not comfortable flying a 1.5bil+ ship to kill ****...besides to fot it properly even that may not be enough, and I don't have that much isk.

Besides neither of these ships at present am I comfortable doing null sec anoms with. The same goes with my CNR. I am mostly going to be in null so atm I won't fly any of these there. TBH Flying a few bil ship in null for anoms is something I don't I ever will feel comfortable. The question I had initially was whether I should keep my CNR for null sec anoms and just build a good fit for it over time....but seeing as I'm not comfortable flying it atm in null and I would like something decent should I just scrap it and use something else? If I was to keep it then I'd be using a normal t1 battleship for anoms/plexes or drake for belts/smaller anoms.

A command ship is sth I can afford and vs a t3 properly afford three of them for one t3 ship. I can fly mini amarr and cald command ships. I've heard good things about all three with various weaknesses. I don't how big of an issue DPS is however? Would I see a significant boost over a drake if I was to use a command ship (any of them). Or should I use something like a t1 arty maelstrom?

A tengu is definetely an option to consider as it is so versatile but as I said it does cost x3 of a command and I am to be frank looking at more cost effective efficient way of ratting/plexing in null for the time being, at least until I have a little more isk and a sure-fire way of getting hold of isk.

So if its not a command ship, what you guys recommend?

Thanks again

PS. Please bear in mind this is NOT FOR MISSION running. I am looking at NULL SEC anoms/plexes/ratting.

Thanks for mission running feedback - its good to bear it in mind. :)

If you life in Sov-Space or some safe place in NPC 0.0, I'd recommend using a Tengu with a T2 fit. Not a problem to tank Heavens or Sanctums with it.
Use a Meta 4 medium booster and cycle it, whilst orbiting a can or gate at 5000m with a meta 4 AB. Use a dedicated tank.

500 mil and you're in.

Edit:
You won't be able to tank an anomaly with a T2 fitted NH, unless you sacrifice DPS. Big Signature and low Speed, same as a Drake with maybe 15% more dmg, if you have CS V skilled.

"A Nighthawk is just a slightly better Drake, whilst the Tengu is one of the best PvE ships in EVE."

Outside of specific rats that they nh has a innate bonus too I'd disagree. The drake has 1 more total slots than the nh and is like 1/7th the cost. In conclusion? Don't buy a NH untill CCP pull their heads out of their asses and gives the field command lineup some much needed attention.

Tengu on the other hand is omgwtf OP'd for pve.
