Primae ship purpose?

I was doing a little salvaging with my noctis and noticed the primae ship variant.
What on earth is this ship for?
It appears to have no ship traits which makes it almost unique in that regard. Two weird holds, one just for PI command centres, and another just for PI products, although so small if you are using it for this purpose then you are doing PI wrong.
The ship looks like a relic from a bye gone age of Eve.
It's a special edition ship, that serves no purpose, but didn't get converted to a skin.
Is it just one of those old relics that is there to remind us of days gone past, or an unloved forgotten artefact sitting dust covered on a back room shelf perchance to be discovered by future generations one day?
It's also missing from the in game Interbus Ship Identification System which makes me think it really has been forgotten. It could be a stealth ship :)

I get the Prima Nocta gag, but to be half of a gag seems to be the ship's greatest purpose.

it was a gift given when PI went live, but after that gallente industrisl got rebalanced with one having a big pi hold. Now its no more than a relic.

In the name of Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen : “Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.”

Thanks for the info. I thought it might be something like that.
They are pretty cheap so I bought a few just in case they do decide to do something with them.
Very weird ship though, I bet most of CCP has forgotten it even exists.

Primea should be repurposed as a deep space PI collection vessle. Able to fit a covert ops cloak and a sizeable PI hold. In its current state the ships is not even next to useless, it IS useless.

well pi ship king is epithal at the moment. it defeats primae with pi hold capacity. primae can hold two command centers for installing them at planets. but ship itself is good to collect

I like the idea of giving the ship a purpose and with Fozzie sov making 0.0 a lot more dangerous it could very easily find a niche for helping PIers in 0.0 mitigate the new higher risk, however there's a problem.

Being a give away ship there is no way to manufacture more. It would have to be converted from a special edition to a standard ship that could be manufactured. Under normal circumstances this would upset current owners of the special ship because converting a ship from limited quantity status to manufacturable normally causes the price to go down. However these things are currently on the market for 7-8 mill each whilst the useful Noctis is worth 10 times that on the market. So a conversion from junk to useful wouldn't hurt existing holders.

I even tried to see if they could be reprocessed into minerals worth more than their buy price but they appear to have no reprocess list of materials.

That is the only entry on "Primae" in my brain rolodex.

Show some respect to the shipmodel that was so different, and therefor alone appreciated, it gave rise to a new ship. If it wasn't for this PI relic, the Noctis might have looked awefull.

Wasn't the Primae the first model to have moving parts? (The boom/ring around the center rotates.)

You know what the Primae always needed, the color scheme of a Thanksgiving turkey.

As is the case for most other "special edition ships."

The Primae is like Jamyl Sarum, both relics of a bygone era.

its purpose is to require next to no skills to start PI when they first introduced PI. If you look at the reqs any one can fly them.

The Primae was never a good ship. It wasn't good when it was added, and it's not good now. But it was free. Would be nice if they buffed all the gift ships to be something nice, but I doubt it.. I mean the Zepher has it's uses, but the rest don't.

I think everyone is missing the point of the ship.

It allowed people on trial accounts to do PI, since they couldn't use an Industrial for the large volume command center.

The primiae is the primier ship spiner. Only Eleet ship spinners have access to this superior model of whilry whirl design. It' was made with superior side areodynamics that make it spinner faster and more accuractly then any other ship in Eve.
