I think I just turned bittervet, trying to find something new

I think this may the point when I go from being an experienced player to a bittervet. I recently left my corporation due to conflicting interested, they moved to sov space and I did not, so off I went in search for a new corporation more in line of what I want to do in EVE, starting out with high hopes and a strong spirit. After all, who would not want an experienced pilot with great attitude in their fleets? Thing is, none of the multitude of corps I have checked managed to hook me and only a precious few got me remotely interested. These days when I scourer the forums and lurk in the recruitment channel all corps I see looks so similar to one another, offering the same thing and asking for the same type of pilots. Almost none try to stand out, try to separate themselves from the others, they just look the same as every other corp. I remember the times when I would scroll the recruitment forums, thrilled to see so many corporations beckoning to me with all the adventures they offered. Now a rarely read the entire post despite them doing activities I too want to participate in when playing EVE.

I asked myself “Maybe is it the game? Should I take a short break and come back in a few months with renewed energy?” To test if this was the case I traveled to an old hunting ground of mine located in NPC null where I still have plenty of assets. Once there I grabbed one of my ships and headed out. I got an easy cyno kill, the pilot laughed at me in local when I teasingly bumped the carrier who had jumped in. He boldly proclaimed that he would not fall for my obvious bait as I left the system in search of my next target. It did not take long before I ran into a small gatecamp where I perished, but not before destroying the Dramiel that had gotten initial tackle on me. The following day I got a frigate 1v1 brawl with a Tristan, a fight I barley managed to win since the other pilot messed up when trying to kite me. Later I tried to hunt down a Viator but with a combination of dumb luck and sharp skills he managed to slip out of my Sabre bubble on two separate occasions.

I had a great time and was eager to head back out in another ship so I came to the conclusion that it was not a break I needed.

And here is where it gets hard. I do not know what it is I am craving in terms of a corporation but I know it is something more than warm bodies and the generic “we got X and do Y” stuff. I do not want any sov or stupid structures, I want to have a group of like minded individuals to fly with, just grab ships and head out. Shoot, get shoot at, get blown up, laugh and do it all over again. I thought it would be easy to find something and yet every corp I see looks just like every other corp.

Yes, at this point I am just ranting and I commend you for reading trough my wall of self-pity. So my question is: Have you ever been in a similar situation? If you have, what did you do? Did keep looking until you found the golden grail or did you start your own corporation and winged it from there? Maybe the best thing to do is just to go solo for a while? Please share your experiences with me and tell me what you think!

i've only been here sense 2012 and I have ran into a similiar situation, when it happened, I moved around a bit, tried new things and ended up finding out what I like to do. Personally, I like to lead, even if I barely have any time for it at all, it is what I like to do.

Now in saying this, No, we don't really have anything to offer, i'm re-starting my old corp and I would like to see it flurish. So maybe this could be someting for you, help us by leading, help us to flurish as the group of players that we can be.

We do not have any requirements, no CTA bullshit, we are here to have fun and we want like minded people to come join us.

If you have any questions feel free to get a hold of me! I do hope to see you around.

If it is not us, I Hope you find what you are looking for!

The problem is that everywhere you go in EVE, it's the same. The contrasting differences in corp or alliance goals are not really unique enough to truly draw your attention and interest anymore.

I suffer from the same issue.... I've been here since 2005. Yes, the game has changed - but the goals and objectives have never changed. CCP has managed to make the game a lot prettier and added more stuff to shoot at, but that's it.

CCP is scared to truly alter the equation that makes EVE Online what it is. I can't say they're wrong for not doing so, but it's getting old quick.

I'm tired of the inevitable meta game surrounding eve. It gets to the point where it's not about the game anymore, it's a pissing match between the most influential and the hordes that follow them.

Yes, I'm ranting too.... But, just saying - I feel ya.

This is really only the case when you're talking about the bigger alliances and power blocs. There is still plenty of interesting/challenging content for a smaller group to find in this game. My corp is about finding good fights and none of that political, sov/drama bullshit matters to us.

Lots of corps, both large and small, do what you are looking for. Head out, find fight, kill and get killed. Rinse and repeat.

FW space and npc null are good places for stuff like that. You are welcome to check out our small corp ( https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5782380 ) and alliance but I would also recommend places like Stay Frosty or a corp like that. Good people and good fun to be had.

If you don't find anything you like then maybe it 's better to take a small break instead of burning out completely. Eve will pull you back in again when you are ready, whatever you do.

I agree with Vordak here, there is plenty of content to be had outside of sov. While I do think it is cool that EVE has developed such an intrecate and deep meta I feel that it is not something I would like to take part in. I tried it once or twice and came to realize that most of the time you are fighting for something someone else wants, not what you want.

The corp that I am in are Provi locals. We pay docking fees but at a reduced rate. Our members regularly roam with the sov holders. We don't have any CTAs or other requirements other than following the Providence region rules. There are ups and downs to everything but I think BM2 offers a nice halfway step into small and medium sized gang stuff in sov null without all the commitment and drama.

As far as structure bashing that is going to largely be a thing of the past soon if the Dev blogs are correct. However like every other corp out there we are just warm bodies with X and Y to do. I'm not sure what you think you are going to find that isn't warm bodies with X and Y to do. Maybe cold bodies with nothing to do?

There's a lot of bittervets who can still enjoy playing the game. What you need is people to Bulls*** with on comms while we ride to glory: http://i.imgur.com/jrtMtQ6.jpg

What you need is to be out in space pew-pewing whenever the mood strikes. A corporation and alliance that doesn't care if you let real life come before the game.

I was at the point of not caring anymore. I was the CEO of a renter corp, didnt want to work, at it anymore and was all grrrr goons. So what did I do. Gave up the rights to the corp and went and joined a CFC alliance. Its the one thing Id never done cause I was always grrr goons. Best decision ever. Loving my new home. Great people, great space, and a good place to PVP and PVE

Check us out. at Trojan Legion.

Mate I hear you loud and Clear. I took a 4 year break. Sold my toon (Dumbass) and came back with a new toon as a CEO of an Indy and PVP corp. We do it all. We support each other all the way. We want to have our way in EVE. We joined a PVP heavy alliance to quench the blood thirst but we like getting to our roots. The reason I started this corp was to make things fun. We have a RL policy. Some miner rules but normal stuff like respect to others and help each other out. Basically if you wanted to come aboard and do something different. Well... let us help you.

We can chat as well

Take care mate.

Taking the time to post on a very interesting thread.

Someone above said "problem is, there really isn't that much that differentiates corps/alliances".

That is true for most who do not understand what makes EVE truly unique. It is... the emergent, unscripted gameplay element, which allows US to further advance the story and content.

PIE Inc.; CVA; Providence...

These are all names you have probably heard of. We take it all to the next level. While most would "classify us" as RP, nerds. that just isn't the case.

I myself play in tons of games, but only RP in EVE because herein, my actions actually make a difference.

Ever wondered why the Amarr were the first to receive their T3 destroyers? It wasn't a random decision by CCP...but was a direct reaction to Amarrian loyalists engaging with the game universe. Ask me for a link if you don't know what I'm referring to.

We have something unique... a driving force which keeps us different, and has for many years. In fact, I can count on 1 hand how many corporations and alliance which have been active in EVE as long as we have.

There is content, creativity, and a great base of players to be with AND a chance to be part of the EVE universe itself. Why? Because we pay attention, and we engage it (plus all the other stuff you can do in virtually every other corp).

Play EVE the way it was meant to be, not like how everyone else does it.
