On some people a monocle is a rather pretentious affectation, on others it is a purely practical solution to near-sightedness. As if depth perception issues weren't bad enough....

Not really, firstly, I have several ships far more expensive than that, though they don't account for more than a few percent of my holdings. That said, I see the monocle as more of a symbol of shame than anything, a symbol of what hopefully will be EvE's lowest point.

Yeah... monocles are a symbol of the dreaded 'monocle-gate' and all that represents. Something about rioting, and CCP being unable to communicate to the player base. Whatever, at any rate...

It's a symbol that will live on forever... in my right eye socket.

To be fair, I got my toons some stuff from the NeX store with the "free" AUR that we were given.

So I don't mind it that much.

But monocle wearers I just feel sorry for, because they feel the only way they can get any feel of superiority is to pay a ton of ISK/Cash for it.

And TBH I get upset because I know for that monocle to be spawned some PLEX got deleted. And PLEX are only created by people buying them from CCP (Or secure 3rd party vendor)

You can't turn your monocle back into AUR and you can't turn your AUR back into a PLEX. It's a 1 way transaction that inflates the prices of PLEX for everyone and people treat it as a joke.

When actually the people buying monocles are just making the game more expensive for themselves and everyone else. They are in a sense, making suckers out of us all.


I actually cough up the $15 a month. So when I got all the most expensive items off the nex store for the hell of it, I knew I was doing this. Made me smile actually.

wonder if it could be a solo event as well? nah... best to have it as a side show on HAG... sort of a door-prize.... but with a great reward and oh the tears shall be grand I can tell just from the "cyclopean" commentary so far.

At the end of the day I've no problem people spending there hard earned on bling for there charecters.

I just think the monocle model itself is pug ugly, looks more like a brooch and would most likely fall out your eyesocket because of it's weight. Monocles are usually single lenses of glass light enough to be held in your eyesocket, not a piece of jewellry with embellishments.

Same. When I saw this thread I was like "Cool, when do I get my tophat!?" then I saw what it actually looked like. I'm still confused as to why anyone would want it.

I was going to buy a pair of manacles for some slaves, because if you've seen slaves, they only have 2 filmsy buckets attached to them and can easily run away. But then after I looked at the preview they didn't look like manacles at all... Looks more like some thing you'd stick in them after feeding them so that the hounds don't gnaw on bare bones.

Might also prevent BWAINZZZZ loss if the hounds claw the slaves' eyes out while playing. I bet the slaves wouldn't like the smell of that.
