Targeted landing at the gate

Greetings. This might be a stupid question but I'm trying to figure out any game mechanic changes that have been deployed.

Yesterday I was traveling with my travel fit interceptor jumping gate to gate, in one of these gates I was landing a Tornado was able to shot me once, taking me some shield. I though game mechanics wouldn't permit locking an arriving ship on a gate. Am I wrong in this assumption?

Thank you

There is a very small window sometimes because when you warp to a gate sometimes you are just a few meters away from jump range. All random chance in the end.

If you want to increase the accuracy of your landing position
you have to keep your warp distances short.

The longer you warp, the more you move around on the surface of an imaginary sphere.

You can observe that easily by looking at long distance fleetwarps.

As starbuck mentioned, I think it is quite likely lag related.

We often get lulled into thinking that what we see is instantaneous, when there are often small delays here and there. You do not usually notice them, unless you are in a situation where even seconds count. PvP is a prime example. I play on a satellite connection with high latency myself, which actually makes PvP impossible. I see things like what you mentioned quite often.
