Well regardless, of time, someone has to produce something. The more produced, the more there is to play with. I think we can all agree on that.

I'd be interested in hearing how big alliances (on Tranquility) maintain long-term building/production operations. Maybe it's worthwhile for the Builder in null sec, because of the distances to the big supermarkets. It isn't in hi/lo sec, though. The group's builders can make things cheaper than the market price. Great, seems like there should be some efficiencies to benefit everybody there.

But the reality is, the builders have a little lemonade stand with maybe 10-50 items for sale. Back in the Upper Egypt area of the corp HQ. Meanwhile, the group members have access to a supermarket, with about any imaginable item available, close to whatever system they might happen to be in. Group member buyers are better off buying for a little more, whenever and wherever they need it. Builders are better off selling at the actual market rate, instead of offering efficiency discounts to in-group member buyers. Considering the margins and fluctuations of the EVE market, they might have spent more producing than they'll get from selling to the buds. It can't work in the end.

Could work in null though, I'd bet. When you need a certain bomb or drone, you really need it, and you don't want to make a shopping list and fly 30 systems to get one.

EVE economy is too fine-tuned and fluid for Asian-style group loyalty/rigidity. That stuff works best when you and your family need that job, and there's nowhere to go if think you might want to go rogue. Not going to happen in an MMO, eh?

Really more of a declaration of theit drive for efficiency. They didn't go from laughable to world #2/#3 superpower in one generation because they were stupid.

Being allowed to bot has nothing to do with being efficient or strong.

If it was allowed to bot on TQ and everyone was doing it, prices would go up on TQ drastically. But on the other hand, if ISk doesn't mean anything to you, market works different, and you have to produce your own stuff, because no one reall wants your $$$ anyways and you don#t need the ISK others are offering you.

The Chinese server having bigger alliances doesn't really mean anything. It's just a matter of how you organize things. Most big nullsec powers on Tranquility are organized into coalitions, ie. a group of alliances that set eachother blue and share intel channels, teamspeak and forums. This is because it's considered a safer option than a single mega-alliance. Back during the Great War way back when, you had Band of Brothers, who were a single huge alliance, on one side and a coalition of Goons and their friends on the other. In the end, BoB was destroyed when one of their leaders switched sides, disbanded the alliance and stole most of their assets. Since then, pretty much everybody has used the coalition model as it's less vulnerable to awoxing.

Also, when speaking of the economy on Serenity one has to note, as pointed by other people, that they have a huge RTM/botting epidemic, which seriously devalues ISK and has major efffects on the economy of the server.

I honestly cannot hear about the Serenity server without shuddering about their wholehearted embrace of botting.

It is, you will find yourself hanging on the tree sooner rather than later. You must maintain a good paid force to enforce the rules. Treating them like slaves or peasants would not do you any good. That is why any dictator or tyrant has a personal army to watch his back, usually enforce a rule of terror by secret police and their army is used to police the masses fairly often. There is even a concept of using not police but militia to enforce laws.
