You issues cannot all be with the client, because I also play on a Mac and:

I can click on an in-game link and it works
I can close a client without a crash. Many times I run 3 clients at a time.
I can change graphics setting without a crash
I can open clients without a crash
I can play for hours without a crash
I can go on cross universe trips with dozens of stargate jumps without a crash.

Ive had a total of maybe 4 crashes in the last month, and this has been a bad month.

The fact the game does work for me shows that the Mac client can work. (This is known as an existence proof: If something happens, then it is possible for it to happen.) What you need to figure put is what is odd about your setup that is conflicting with the client. That is an issue CCP needs to address: The Mac client is extremely delicate, and easily upset by most anything. I have a really clean setup. No extra software, no streams running in the background, no other demands on memory or CPU cycles, and so on.
