I have the similar problem using a Vodafone R216 miwi

The launcher doesn't work ever when connected to Vodafone , so have to use the exefile. Which is fine untill ccp do an update, and then I have to find a wifi network I can connect to (usually a pub) to update...
Everything works as it should if I connect to any wifi anywere else. obviously a problem with Vodafone uk

There is no fix to their launcher, it's trash and the only way to get it to work is to try it sometime either a few hours before -- or after -- downtime. I don't think it's really worth putting a ticket in either, but that's your call. Essentially after days of checking back for a response, all I was inevitably told was to unsub if I wanted and that it was MY NETWORK CONNECTION that's the problem.

Evidently my network connection must be your problem too...I'm sorry.

It's not only a problem with Vodafone UK - I have the same problem in germany with Vodafone. You don't need to find a public wifi to patch. Just use the repair tool.
