I was trying to up-skill my covops for rook action after Leto said "think out of the box".

Though, I EFT'd a rook and the heavy missile nerf wS really devastating. It used to be a high speed ECM platform that pushed 500 dps 70k... Which was nasty in any fight. I think now the dps is about half that.

I thought it would be funny because there really isn't much that can threaten a rook in 1v1, and there isn't anything that would enjoy the challenge...

It was a good fight, although I felt a bit dirty using the Rook.

Now that I have some time, Ill give a brief AAR.

My fit:

In doing some KB research, I was fairly certain that Noragen would be flying a Gallente ship, and I fit my jams accordingly. Without the jamming rigs (that also lower shield HP) I was jamming at ST 13, very effective. Also knowing I would not have range problems, nor a need to use webs (as I brought RLM's), I elected to forgo the prop mod and scram/web.

What I should have done better:

Fit a MASB. This would have saved my ass. I knew drones would be a problem, but I also knew my own drones wouldnt out DPS an active tank if he decided to bring one in the event I fit smartbombs. ( The demios he mentioned would have laughed at me for days while he repped my meager drone DPS, albeit unable to target me...)

Stupidly, once his drones agressed me, I tried to kill them. According to my combat logs, I was beating the hell out of those geckos... but they didnt seem to get the message. I think if I had kept my DPS focused, it would have been MUCH closer, as he was about 1/4 into hull when I swapped all my damage to his drones. That was just bad on my part.

My errors were similar.

I wrote a pvp tutorial once in which I depicted the advantages and disadvantages of rep tanks and buffer tanks. Specifically, I stated that buffer tanks are better against unmitigated high damage and rep tanks are better against limited damage (like 1v1 or speed games)

I drove a buffer tank to the match with near certainty that it was a bad idea. Turns out, it was a bad idea.

Then I spent my efforts killing his drones... And even though I capped him out I was too far gone to revive it.

Mortlake played his cards better than I did and showed up wearing a better fit vexor for the task at hand.

I wish the remaining competitors luck.

Sounds like you guys didn't screw up as badly as I did. Conflag doesn't hit at all at 24 km. Sadly I didn't notice I wasn't hitting for far too long.

I also don't have much (read any) experience with cap management in a cap warfare situation, so I was not cycling modules in an effective manner, by the time webs and neuts landed though, the fight was already lost (see above with the conflag).

This is why I didn't get too creative and stuck to galente for the fight. I see I'm not the only one doing KB research before a fight so maybe I'll change things up a little for badman Blink.
