I am on a crappy connection and when I launch Eve, the launcher doesn't complete it's startup.

I have been entering the game by launching eve through Eve/Bin/exefile but this morning it now tells me that I am on the incorrect build.

How does one update the console without having to launch the Eve launcher?

Edit: the Eve launcher usually works fine for me but this week I am on a crappy connection, but, this does not usually prevent me from being able to sign in via the launcher.

Repair.exe, I think

Edit: or a least, you can delete the launcher folder and run the repair tool, to attempt fixing the launcher.

I may have a similar problem:

Normally the EVE launcher will now simply have a grey bar where it used to have a yellow "client ready bar". I can log in, but it wont launch the game. So I've stopped using the launcher a few months ago and use the exe file from the binfolder like you do.

There is an exception tho: The launcher does work after a patch. It will download, apply, check cache etc. After that I can log in using the launcher once. After that one time its game over again and its back to using the exe-file again.

So if you get an "incorrect" build message, try the launcher this once. If you're lucky like me, it will still update the client. After that you can log in "normally" once or start using the exe-file again.

I've been logging in and updating like this for atleast a half year

My launcher seems to be onto bad trails too

I can't open the launcher options and can't repair the game don't know what is happ?

You're only half correct. Yes, delete the launcher folder, no to the repair tool. CCP does have a separate launcher installation tool:

Edit: I can confirm that this works, I just had to reinstall my SISI launcher a few days ago. Only took a few minutes, and i did not encounter any issues. Worked great.

Will this affect my launcher? Usually the Eve launcher works perfectly fine but I am on a crappy connection, this does not usually prevent me from signing in but in this case it appears my connection is stopping the Eve launcher from turning yellow.

Tried the reinstalling launcher and I was right, my connection isn't allowing me to connect to the right build.

If I launch eve via CCP\EVE\bin/exefile it tells me unable to connect.... any takers?

Ultimately this belongs in the issue's and work around's section of the forum where many threads on this topic already exist.
That said try this, start up the launcher and let it go till it gives up and sits there. Then click the language drop down on the top right and change languages, then change it back to your desired language. 95 ish % of the time this works for me the first try if I have a grey bar or grey play button. 100% of the time it'll work within 2-3 tries.

Long and short of it is,
the launcher is broken.
They know.
Maybe someday they'll get it fixed.
Till then...
Stay calm and switch language.
