Didn't CCP Pann also post during the OOPE rebellion after CCP banned all discussion of other games? I think that and the Incarna crisis where some of the few times we ever heard of her.

OP your troll is 1/10 for opening scabs that were mostly skin by now, but thanks for digging in your fingernails and drawing blood again anyway, the sharks are responding to the chum already. Sad

The best way to know what the future will hold is to look into the past. Regurgitating old problems is a great way to stop idiots from making the same mistakes all over again.

Some (players) may find this therapeutic, and others (those in charge) a reminder. Forgetting the past...yada yada...condemned to repeat it. Dont need to read the thread if you dont like it.

In this case it is more like dredging up the past condemns everyone to repeat it. You know else chummed the community waters of resentment after a major conflict? I'll give you a hint, he was a short little Austrian guy. Shocked

Let's enjoy the holiday spirit and the awesomeness of Crucible just a little bit longer...

Or from another point of view, a great way for the diplomacy-challenged elements of the playerbase to make the same mistakes all over again. Depends on who you supported to start with. A silent majority were sitting back letting the kids have their riots and their fits and work it all out until things got back to normal again.

Incarna was very much about the long neglected new player experience and dev blogs were clear about that, but who reads when they can rage instead? I went back through the new tutorials and they were pretty cool and the CQs even as one room add extra atmosphere to the game for those of us who spend a lot of time in station trading and doing industry and such and get tired of looking at a huge empty hangar - a sexy Gallente toosh is much more appealing to look at - but people don't seem to want to pay attention to what is right in front of them. And if it doesn't cater to their own play style 100% of the time, tantrums happen. Which is ridiculous. People should act more civilized frankly. A sandbox means there are different ways to play and CCP is right to take turns catering to different groups in different expansions. Microtransactions for bling obviously make economic sense for folks who work in stations who stare at their toon for long periods of time. And they pay for the bling with those transactions, instead of that art etc coming out of the subscriptions which is a more limited quantity. It's called Capitalism 101. A corporation has the obligation to its stakeholders to make money by all ethical means necessary and to create diverse streams of opportunity. Not that I've bothered to buy that bling myself but CCP has a right to offer it to the players who want it.

There was that thing about what people say versus what they do. But the blow up was even more about what CCP *didn't* say and dismissing what they did say (derp), as they did what they did. So, going forward let's not make the mistake again of watching what CCP *doesn't say*, but what they do say, and do do. Trying to pry to far between the lines leads to ASS-U-ME-ing and we all know where that leads.

And finally, the wisdom of timeless giants like Napoleon Hill etc are clear that the best way to know what the future will hold is actually to look forward, visualize what you want very clearly, and take constructive steps towards that. The past is the past. Just a shadow of a fantasy and a memory. Only the present exists.

All that said, I can agree that CCP Pann's infamous moment was pretty painful to watch. "okay people, put down the torches slowly and back awaaaay from the pitchforks" was not the most... skillful way to deal with an angry mob. Bless her heart, as we say here down South.

Here we go again with the "silent majority" crap, have you seen how apathetic the wider community really is to Incarna? check the "CCP we want WIS" thread. Apart from the fact that 50% of it happens to be people trolling the space barbie supporters you might realise that is barely reached 1/10th the size of the Incarna rage threadnought after weeks when that thread exploded in days. That threadnought was only one of many threads at the time as well, Incarna fans have managed a handful.

Neither do we see mass protests in game, no great mass of articles in the gaming press either. The space barbie supporters are the only ones in the minority.

Ok I am down with that. As long as no one goes out of their way to start **** by punting the Hornets nest.

We can all relax now that Utremi the Voice of Reason has Spoken.

Remind me why mass protests would be necessary for Incarna when it's a fait accompli?

My reading is that Incarna supporters are just more chill and stoic. Huge angry threads of the same usual suspects posting over and over is not what I would call a majority either. The majority don't even read the forums and had no idea what the fuss was about.

But, then Crucible now is awesome. Let's enjoy that and have fun with spaceships.

We can all agree that spaceships are pretty cool and fun. Isn't fun what it is all supposed to be about in the end? Let's not lose track of that.

I hope it went the same way as the bathwater and the baby (jk) and that CPP dev Zinfandel dude who bought mounts on Ebay: -> out of the window.

Not that I mind ship paints, but not *that way.
But yes, that is where it started. And you got a lot of posts in there I see just glancing over eve-search. Shocked

Anyway, it is not bad to reflect back at the end of a year.
We've got older and grown a bit wiser (hopefully).

To a successful 2012 for everybody!
