Black Legion is recruiting!

Does black legion have a ship replacement program?

If it does, would you be kind enough to scam a thanatos out of them and contract it to me at your nearest opportunity?

HINT: YOU STILL OWE ME ONE

We don't SRP unless its a cap or something. I don't need SRP.

No poors.

I do however consider our bargain fulfilled.

You are a scumbag pirate awoxer. You owe me a thanatos carrier.

He really is a scumbag, run a locate agent on him and you'll see... it's well known. Scumbag.

For those that don't know the full story.....

One day I was piloting along (minding my own business) when all of a sudden - I come across this dude (I wrongly assumed he was a noob, but no just a dude). He convos me and as I'm about to cancel the invite I notice a vindicator and a griffin on d-scan in Ami at the top belt. "The day may get interesting" I say to mayself and open the convo.

So this Leto character starts chatting me up like we're old friends from high school. Assuming I just forgot yet another eve pilot I've encountered over the years I decide to play along. As the convo starts to develope I bring in an alt in a bomber to scope out the top belt.

I got him on comms and the conversation was wierd right from the beginning, and to this day I'm not sure if I had ever encountered him prior to this sad sad interaction. He went through this long winded explanation about his junior prom and getting caught wearing chapps and how folks were making fun of him. He kept saying "but the were asslesschaps" and I was just thinking 'is there any other kind??' anyway, you get the point. It was one wierdass metaphore for getting caught with your pants down (though he inserted assless chapps for the anklepants).

Anyway I was watching the griffin peck away at his buffer tank as he was pinned down in the belt in his vindi. He was going on about being tossed back and forth by a crowd of dudes while wearing assless chapps. It was top belt Ami, so the clock was running. It was time to get a bit direct. So I did.

"Leto, where are you going with this.... what's the punchline?"
"I could use a little assistance in the top belt old buddy."
"What kind of assistance?"
"Could you please get this griffin off my back? I really don't need this particular km haunting me forever."

(very long negotiation process)

3 minutes later his pitch was getting kind of high, so I'm thinking that structure bar was changing colors. I was starting to seriously feel for this guy. Between the bleeting on comms and the noob in a griffin pecking away, it was just too much. I struck the deal. He (Leto Thule) would deliver to me 2 thanatos carriers and I (Serendipity Lost) would deliver to him sweet sweet freedom for his griffin pecked vindicator.

I toyed with uncloaking the bomber and finishing him and looting the wreck, but then that mental picture of him lying in the parking lot, covered in dirt trying to pull the flare of his assless chapps over his brushburned buttox. He had absorbed enough for one lifetime, so I took him at his word. I uncloaked the bomber. Popped the griffin and watched as the vindicator was released back into the wild.

I felt good about it. Real good. I had done one of those rare eve good deeds, sure I would get paid for it, but the deed was still good.

That was over a year back now. He's never paid. He's spent many a thread twisting the story trying to weasel his way out of his obligation. I was gracious enough to reduce the payment down to one thanatos carrier in hopes of getting something out of the deal. All for naught I guess. Sometimes I even wish I was one of those guys on junior prom night. Pushing him around and mocking him.... him and his assless chapps.

At this point I can only assume he will continue attempts to twist the truth to get out of it. It's possible that at some point along the way he has begun believing his own lies. I just keep hoping that he'll pay his reduced debt and we can all get along with our lives.

I still feel good about saving him, but the overall lack of gratitude on his part makes me worry about the future of eve.

I wish I could like this a few more times. +10

Serendipity Lost. Why have I not read this in the pirate story thread? This by far one of the better eve stories I've heard.

Leto. Dude. I'm in stitches. Write that story up on the out of pod experience.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess it wasn't written in the pirate story thread because it didn't happen. I couldn't even fly a battleship until I joined up with BL, which was a few weeks ago.

Serendipity lost, for those of you who don't know, is a medically retired police officer. After a few years of service the job started taxing his minds abity to form coherent thoughts. Why?

Well, because they used him as a form of canary, if you will.

Every time there was a gas leak or hazmat incident, they would send ol serendipity down to the scene without any PPE to see if the coast was clear. A coptometer, some would call it.

Since the human central nervous system can only handle exposure to noxious chemicals for so long, its no wonder he posts raving lunacy on the forums. Just look at the posts here... We were having a good time until he was triggered....

Be gracious, send him some isk.

So, are Serendipity and Bronson the same person, or does Leto allegedly owe two different people carriers?

If its the latter I might just ask for one for good measure.

To the last respondant, I would like to share the idea that punishing people for losing ships is counterproductive.

Teach them to fight a hub hump, educate them to avoid it, or whatever... But the cultural implications of punishing losses are crap. In my opinion, those policies stifle creativity and fun.

I personally like station games and I like fighting station gamers. I think a lot of the people who look down on them do so in a fit of "sour grapes."
Station games are tactically more complex than open space warfare in my opinion (though in the old days, it was a 5 person agressor corp against 2 or 3 30 person target corps). The new alliance paradigm screws that up.

I think the concept of tactically committing forces is relevant in the discussion of anyone who hugs stations and gates. If you only fly alpha shooters and brawlers where you have no choice but to commit in order to engage, that's the smartest way to play.

Otherwise you'll be losing your AB fit brawler to a kite fit whatever.

Brawlers only have a way-out at a station or gate. Kites always have a way out. Calling a station hugger in a melee boat a coward is only relevant if you think kite fliers are cowards too.

Both tactics are equivalent in avoiding committing to a fight until success can be reasonably assured. It's not cowardice, it's good tactics.

I admit sebo blasting with a massive hub camp is only arguably harder than mining. This issue, in my opinion, is that increased war dec costs force us all into large alliances where we can't get real fights as easily.

I think the high costs of war decs also make us all subservient to "sugar daddies" who pay for our fights.

I retain my position that the old crime watch and war cost structure is the way forward for eve.

You can replace the words ''some people'' with the word ''you'' , that would make more sence in that sentence.

If he claims he made Marmite relevant ...
... then I believe he can back that up somehow.

I don't automatically assume it's a blatant lie ...
... and he does not seem to be the type of person who does that.

So it has to have some basis and others might know as well.
