When is a K162 generated?

I've heard many say conflicting theories to when K162s will be generated. One saying it is generated the second you land on the entry side, even if you don't go through it. Other saying it's generated when you actually go through to the other side.

So which is correct?

It is generated either instantly when you jump through the WH or after a period time (randomly calculated up to 16 hours) after you have landed upon and not jumped through. The random calculation increases in chance as more time passes. Theres a Dev blog somewhere written by Fozzie about it.

if your static collapsed and you scan new one down . as long as someone else didnt find it and didnt initiated warp. the static will be unopened . if someone lscanned your static and warped on it but >>>did not jump throught<<< then it can open in anytime by random time factor

So, if i jump in my U210 lowsec static, the K162 at the other ends will open to let me get out and will stay open for a certain amout of time (WH normal life expectency).

If I warp to the WH after probing it, and do not jump, it will open randomly between 0 and 16 hours.

I think Not entirely true.

Remember that this random timer starts when a wormhole has 16 hours or less life left if not jumped. Wormholes with 24 hours life Have upto 8 hours before this starts.

A k162 is generated either if you jump through the wormhole, or randomly if it has less then 16h of life expetancy left.

So, for a wormhole which has only 16h of lifetime, a k162 will be generated pretty quickly (we talk minutes), while you can be gauranteed that for a 24h wormhole, you will have 8h before it opens (if no one else jumps through).
