Christ I read this wrong. I thought they told you, you had to look good for the corp interview in a way. So they made you buy NEX clothes for it and then didnt let ya in after all your plex was used for clothes. When I misread it I didint know wether to laugh or shoot myself.

On the far off chance this isn't a failing troll.. I'll bite, because I'm a nice person.

Eve is a harsh game, it has a steep learning curve and the universe is a harsh place, where people get their cookies stolen when they blink for a second.

Yes you got scammed, welcome to Eve.

Goons are very well known for being scammers, and their 'recruitment scam' is one of their longest running ones.

In EvE, scamming, suicide ganking for proft ( or lulz ), corp theft, corp infiltration/spying, grief deccing are all part of the 'daily life'.

This is not a game where you jump through a hoop and you get a cookie, this is a game where you claw and bite and shove till you get your cookie, then kick anybody who looks wrong at it. No place in Eve is safe, unless you sit in your captain's quarters and don't do anything, just spin your ship in your hangar.
Undock, and someone can shoot you, buy/sell stuff on the market/contracts and you can get scammed, the list goes on.

Eve is also a great game in this regard, because achieving something actually has meaning and value. It's not just grind grind grind grind, yay epic! This game requires thinking ahead, planning, evaluating risk vs reward and sometimes a little luck, or idiocy in whoever you're dealing with.

And while there's pleeeenty of trolls and nasty biting people here on the forum, there's also plenty of people out there who are nice and friendly, even if their actions in the game aren't quite so friendly.

A good example of this is my Alliance's current war. We've been wardecced by a small griefing corp, who are just out to get some eazykills from an industrial alliance with a lot of carebears. However, they're also a nice friendly bunch of players at the same time, because between pew pews, and near misses, epic fails and well executed attacks from them and us, the smacktalking in local has always been very humourous and enjoyable. I've also flown a few times with them doing other stuff ( when we weren't under wardec with them ), and as players they're a nice bunch.

My advice to you is, HTFO and don't grow up to be a whiny carebear, people laugh at them, and they like shooting them for the tears it brings to their eyes. Stand up for yourself, if you get a punch, punch back if you can, dodge if you can't fight back.
Even trying, or showing you're not a whiny kid that cries to mommy if they get picked on, is good.

- Always keep in mind Risk Vs Reward. ( either in ISk or fun )
- Don't fly what you can't afford to lose
- Always read contracts three times, very Very carefully, expecting it to be a scam until proven beyond a doubt otherwise.
- If something seems too good to be true, it is.
- Never do something that makes yourself a target if you can help it.( unless you intend to be, or the risk of getting targetted is worth the reward )
- Never trust a goon.

What I don't understand, how can any new player on his/her FIRST DAY in the game already get in contact with GOONS and fall for their recruitment scam? I was way too busy with getting to grips with how stuff worked on my first day, doing the tutorial and shooting rats. I really do think this is just a troll post.

Goons get a lot of press outside of Eve. You'd be surprised the number of people who join the game and try to join us after they read about the fun we're having on some gaming related website.

No, somebody better at EVE Online made some money at your expense. It is a lesson. Do your research and you'll be fine. For example, here it says:

Goons wrote:
If you gave isk to join GoonWaffe then you were scammed and you're **** out of luck.

So yes, you gave money to a Corp that advertises that they will scam you and take your money.

Alternatively, you're just an obvious troll. Whichever, you'll end up being a lesson for new pilots.

Yeah, I fell for it, too. (A Goon scam, not what you fell for) I was an idiot when I did and because of it I raged and quit playing the game. I wish I could tell you I had a voodoo doll with Goon written on it, but it wasn't as melodramatic as that.

A few months later I sucked it up and got back in.

It's a relentless cycle - but the only satisfaction comes by learning from your mistakes and not being a complete and total ***** every time someone does a bad thing to you.

"Nay," responded Kurama Bingyi, "to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet - to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best."
