Drone Actions "modules"

Did search, too much white noise.

Drone window gives an option from the = top right to bring up another window.

From there you can drag actions into module slots to activate with keys.

(Drop down menus)
Abandon (group1) launch (group2) --> module icon to drag
Launch (group) -> icon to drag
Launch (group) attack "current target" --> icon

Why make these?
When you are busy trying to run other modules, change directions and such, fiddling with the current drone menu to abandon say sentries and drop ECM drones to try get out safe is hell.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Thanks.
Depth != complexity.
The more fluidly we can play the game and it interprets what we want to do, the more immersed we become.

can't we already make loads of hotkeys for drones?

Drone key mapping:

  • Engage
  • Return and Orbit
  • Return to Drone Bay
  • Toggle Aggressive / Passive (anyone use this? Shocked )
  • Toggle Focus Fire ( What? )
  • Toggle Attack and Follow
  • Reconnect To Lost Drones
Nothing group specific.

Dropping a group isn't more complicated than switching target to a specific one to use a module so I would leave that as is. It's only click and drag on the group anyway.

A hotkey do abandon could make sense to be added.

When you want to use a web, do you have to offline a disruptor first?

Abandon and launch, is preparing ahead of time and takes pointless steps out of the UI.

I believe this would be a good addition to the game.

I love my hotkeys. Although you can drag groups in and out, drag and dropping isn't as fast as pressing a key.

  • I don't know which you use, so I will give use cases for each:

Aggressive if you are mining - if the belt rats shoot you, they will automatically engage said rats without the player having to lock them up (and thus react faster than the player ever could).

Passive in both PVE and PVP - in PVE, so your drones don't go walkabout and start shooting targets better suited to your main guns, leaving them to react faster when you want them to shoot that annoying scramming rat; in PVP, so you don't go racking up suspect or limited engagement timers you don't want, and avoiding an unintended extension of your weapons timer if you are sitting outgunned at a station or gate.

I just leave it on passive and launch my drones after the rats are shooting my barge / exhumer ... but then I can solo two battleships on buffer.

This idea was brought up not too long ago, however... I do like the idea very much then and I like it now.

tbh i find the UI and control of drones to be part of the balancing but this is just me

Those modules were designed to be used together. 2 flights of drones are not meant to be sued together hence whey you ahve to "deactivate" one before you can use the other.

    Turn off != offline modules.

    Its more like changing scrips.
Your ship have a set brandwith you can use for drones, you just change what you do with that brandwith.

Being able to map drone groups or orders (shortcuts) to any of the 24 module slots you have on your UI would be a godo qualty of life upgrade, while on the same time not increasing the power of anything.

We are talking about easier UI management, fighting the UI should NOT be what seperate good from bad players

    Agreed.
The more intuitive the UI and quicker our thoughts turn into actions, the more directly, we interact with one another.
