Why not strike first?

Because it was already done and the aggressor lost a Thanatos for his trouble?

I was referring to the use of overwhelming force. Not an under-tanked capital pilot.

How do you know how much force would be 'over-whelming'? We have no idea of the level of forces arrayed against us (if indeed they are arrayed against us and not some common threat that remains as yet unknown)

I know they harvest capsuleer biomass. I'm sure there's a plethora of methods to exploit that.

on an unrelated note, this reminds me of a "Orgy in support of virginity" fundraising event I happened across in Luminaire once.... Some of my more charitable contributions were made at that event.

Most of them believe they are, my dear. That's the core of the problem.

Can you please refrain from relating the Nation to the lazy hedonists that live in their so called "federation". Other then that I agree on those suggested policies as long as the drifters remain in their current passive state.

I'd currently classify them as a threat, but not an immediate one.

I greatly suspect that even if they desired to remain in a passive state and held no ill-will toward the cluster at large, capsuleers are going to keep on shooting at them until they decide they've had enough.

If they had wanted to hit us militarily they would have done so a long time ago and without warning. They certainly would not have popped up and shown us their technological capabilities in piecemeal combat.

I still take issue with the whole 'lazy hedonist' thing. If a hedonist isn't making an effort they really aren't doing it right...

Some people enjoy doing a lot of nothing. It doesn't take that much effort to drink alcoholic beverages and watch pornographic material. Assuming you have a sufficient amount of ISK, you can pay others to prepare delicious meals, have live performances you enjoy streamed directly to a neural link, or get a good backrub and footrub.

Assuming you still maximize net pleasure, lazy hedonism works.
