No process backgrounding in linux?

I noticed that when I run the 2 clients at the same time on my nux-box the GPU always works at the top speed, even when one or even the 2 clients are "backgrounded" or minimized in the panel. I know that in linux "backgrounding" literaly means something else, but in win once a window is pulled down the os immediately switches the process in background. Not the same here unfortunatly, and it's quite a big issue

any idea about how to do it?

so, guys, shell I infer all those of you playing a multi client on linux have permanently 99% gpu usage and cpu close to that value as well? Shocked

btw: my gpu is a 6 months old nvidia, able to play much more than 2 clients at top specs, and cpu is a quad core 3.4Ghz, not too lame for the purpose I guess
