Future of starbases?

I read about the new structures that CCP is designing, and I was wondering, is there absolute certainty that POSes/starbases will be completely removed from the game? Or could they exist alongside each other?

If yes, is there a good indication that they get removed this year?

From what I've seen, those structures are a lot more boring... you can only fit them like a ship, instead of the more flexible anchoring/onlining system of a POS. It seems like dumbing down.

Read the dev blogs again.

Modularity will increase and so will the possible permutations when setting up / equipping the stuff.

The amount of time it will take to implement new structure mechanics is going to be considerable. The amount of time it will take to actually get them functional and to have the same level of functionality as current POSes is probably going to be counted in years.

I frankly expect the game to be dead before CCP manage to get new structures to a point where they can remove POS towers. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Short answer is yes.

According to the blog they will remove pos' eventually. but they suppect players will nuke them eventually too.

But it will take a while.
