NPC Jamming and Drones drinking coffee instead of attacking

Im fairly new to the game and I now have a procurer with hobgoblins. I m a miner and use the drones as my only measure of defence vs NPC rats. Its more than enough really.... IF they get to attack. I've set my drones to aggressive mode and deploy them the moment i set my foot on the asteroid belt. Still, I see them attack the rats randomly when Im jammed (or not) and they continuously need me to lock and give the order of the attack for the first enemy ship (attack and follow is enabled). Whats the reasoning behind having offensive drones in attack/aggressive mode if they dont really go after enemy NPCs that attack you at 4km away. I understand the NPC Jamming is there to stop me from having it all too easy, but shouldnt the drones attack by themselves even when im jammed? I can return and deploy them, so its not like I have no communication with them.

Any help on the matter would be appreciated, inb4, i dont have slots for anti jamming and i dont care about me being jammed, i am obnoxious about my drones sitting like ducks instead of auto attacking.

The only thing I can say, it takes some time before drones take action ... but promptly deployed aggressive drones should work eventually, even if your Procurer is jammed. I'm not sure if NPC's also jam drones ...

I'm my own NPC alt.

if the drones are out before you are shot, they respond. if the drones get launched after you are shot, they will wait until either a new hostile shoots you, or until you give them an order to engage. this is a bit counter-intuitive, but it is the behavior i have observed.

If the rats agress (red box not yellow) you outside of your drone control range, the drones will not engage until you tell them to. This is normally not an issue, just when you are being jammed. Consider moving out of guristas space if it bothers you too much.

PSA: I found the problem. I had to upgrade a few times the Drones Avionics in order to have them connected far enough to attack enemies that are not next to me. Posting it here so that new ppl find a solution instead of losing an afternoon like me.

Btw.: Easiest solution is leaving Caldari Space. Eliminates jamming rats and reduces number of suicide ganker.

Note: having drones set to 'aggressive' in hisec is dangerous.

A classic tactic is, if you have an mtu deployed, that a ganker in a proper pvp ship will attack it. The 'auto aggress' drones then attack the ganker, and then he is allowed to attack you without getting concorded.

There might be other ways to exploit 'auto aggress' drones in this way. Better to target and operate them manually.

They patched that out a while ago.

This is, in fact the reason drones no longer actually behave in a sensible way.

Rather than telling the carebear mission runners to set their drones to passive CCP just lobotomized the drone AI. Once again the carebears get to have their cake and eat it too at the expense of everyone else.
