So you have 50M+ SP, and you still play solo because:

I've been solo for the last year of 3 years of play. For many of the reasons posted here. Sick of the drama and abusive idiots. This is off topic but applies also:

Never share fittings with anyone in any chat anywhere.

If you share a fitting, some loud mouth, jerk off, asswad who never spoke to you in the past will suddenly crawl out from under their rock and respond with "LOL FAIL" or "NOOB" and of course "Go back to WOW you Carebear", simply because you don't play EVE the way they play so you aren't playing properly.

To hell with them...

Autism.

Welcome to EVE: Internet spaceships and Asperger's syndrome.

Meh I have asperger's and don't care how other's play (and enjoy playing with others, though small is better for me).

Then again, I was part of a case study on it from age four till ten, receiving a large amount of psychotherapy. Learned how to identify my oddities and all that.

Sometimes I can even pass as normal.
Still lacking in general communication skills though. I prefer the organized communication of a forum to the chaos that is speaking.

Oh and to OP: don't play solo (or have 50M+ SP), but if I did, the answer would be - because I haven't found anyone worthy of me.Big smile

100M+ SP here and i DO have almost all my skills to 5.
I have had my fun with Corps and Alliances the like, but I solo mostly now because...

I already have a massive c*ck on real life, dont need to grow a digital one with a KB mandate.

Like the OP, too many CEO/Directors with with diarrhea of the mouth and a constipation of thought.

Directors like OP assuming why I do or don't do things and trying to oppressively change it by attempting to mico-manage my login times, asking me to log off when in AFK, require a misguided quota or put the alliance at risk because THEY got blown up or their ego and tiny epeen got p*ssed on some how.

I work 60+ hours a week, have a kid and social life, don't have time, compensation or inclination to educate people like OP on their assumption on why I do things... nor do I have the patience to care. And I cant compete with people who play as many hours as I spend actually working.

It's a damn shame that it has to be like that. Honestly, CCP should shed the T20 guilt and go "yes we play this game and we might even be ravaging your pod right now. If you feel that may cause problems then there's the door". As long as IA pays attention (and doesn't try to be politically correct) we'll just (have to) trust you when it comes to playing fair.

The best thing for EVE to happen is devs actually playing more and doing things outside the half-afk comfort zone of mining/PVE, the more you guys play the more you know about the game and learn about issues and problems. Come join the fray and be one of us.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

This. Or close enough. I only play with people when I know their home address in RL and it's close to my home, so I can go and break their legs when they steal from me. And note I said "when", not "if"

You flew drunk in an CTA OP 1 time, and now nobody trusts you.

You want to play with others, but until ALL your skills are 5, you should probably wait.

Well let me be so humble as to rise to your expectations!

Perhaps there is something of mutual benefit, a business proposition perhaps?

Why I fly alone.

The sad simple truth is because I tried Wormhole and I felt I was in a can all day. Null was grab your ship haul stuff and stand around and get ready to fight then it never happened. Taxes for the CEO plexcards FAIL! Low security fails. No way will I risk 1 billion in ships for 20% more tech one loot. There are a few isolated high security systems left. ( Need more of them now. This is space not a bus stop in NEW YORK CITY. ) When I am alone I can be informal friends with good pilots I flew with before. Must admit I am nearing the end of CCP. Happy that CCP is back into the spaceship game verses the avetar game but it could be too late. Need to expand the universe NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides I love mine all day usally simply like to be left alone. ( Odd that I love to yak on Teamspeak. )

There are a lot of people who do this, almost never sov alliances, but roaming corps/alliances with few or no blues generally let outsiders roam with them.

I'm over 90 mil, and here's why I fly solo:

  • Taxes suck and I don't like to pay them
  • Your mother
  • I suck but don't feel like I should have to be apologetic about that...
  • Your mother
  • I've been known to scam and some people don't like that, despite a (I feel) respectable success rate.
  • Your mother
  • I'm in good shape in terms of ISK but don't want to be hassled by beggars. The world needs ditch diggers (miners) too...
  • Your mother
  • I don't really have an agenda or a plan and feel that having one would increase my commitment
  • Your mother
  • Gate camping takes time. Forming a fleet to do it would take more and then we'd have to split the loot. I want it all.
  • Your mother

That's funny, I never get comments like that when I share my fits.

Why is that, do you think?

I don't speak on comms. I don't want to and therefore I don't; I let my typing do the talking. Haven't spoken on comms since... early 2008 or so? Maybe longer, I can't quite remember. My corpies are nice enough to accept this as one of my little quirks, although it does provide some occasional amusement when a new FC joins the alliance.

I can't ever recall losing a ship because of that, or causing a friendly to lose theirs. Actually I find that not constantly yammering into an open channel helps me focus on flying my ship. And hey, logi pilots should be listening not talking anyway, right?

Anyway I guess my point is that if you x up frequently, don't lose (too many) ships in stupid ways, are happy to fly logi in 50% of fleets, listen to and implement FC orders and are generally a good team member, then all sorts of exceptions to the normal rules may be made for you.

And if not... well what the hell, there's always another corp who will.

kind of funny but all those who are butt hurt by the question are the ones in all the forums all the time chatting it up on how things should be changed in the game... tanya i am looking at you hun...
So in a way they do group activites but only on the forums...

TBh i thought the questions were funny... but then again in am only 26 and single so perhaps i am too close to the age of stupid....

and why do i solo?

Easy so i dont have to share with my corp mates... (yes i am in a corp and alliance but mostly solo cuss i like getting 10/10 complexes and soloing them)

There are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... CCP Goliath wrote:

I could elaborate better but why bother, your mind is obviously made up. One thing I'll say is most of my fittings I get elsewhere anyway, I don't make them up...
