Is it just me? Or does it seem like the Minmatar are the exact opposite of CCP's 'Chosen Race'? First of all, they get the short straw with these new SKINs, every other race has got some cool looking patterns that really stand out from the standard design of the race. What did the Minmatar get? A slightly different shade of brown. The only cool skins, like the Thukker Tribe Thrasher, are 30 days only.

While we're on the subject, I feel like some of the Minmatar ship models could use an update, the only recent model update that I can remember the Minmatar having is the Typhoon, and that was a while ago... How about a new model for the Rupture? I have many fond memories flying the mighty Dorito ship, but as the graphics and models of the game improve, the Rupture stands out more and more as a very low quality ship, as far as visuals go.

No, the Caldari got the short straw as far as SKINs are concerned. Minmatars got Nefantar SKINs which are pretty cool, especially the new version available on the test server.

Minmatar ship models were updated as much as any other race: Tempest, Stabber, Typhoon, Vagabond, industrials,... I agree that Rupture needs a redesign, since it's the ugliest ship in the game after Moa got a redesign Smile But, on the other hand, I'd rather see CCP's design team working on new structures which were announced in recent dev blogs than updating old ship models. It would be a nice bonus to see more ships updated, but it's not a game breaking feature.

Personally, I like the Caldari ship skins, they're not my favorite, but I prefer them over the Minmatar ones.

But, you're right, I'd rather see CCP work on their new structure system, than focus on visuals too much. This post was just me thinking out loud.

The lighting on minnie ships is a bit poor with dark backgrounds.That might just be because I'm running on low settings atm due to hardware issues (although I've noticed them becoming dirtier over time even with max settings).

I really like the minnie hull design aesthetic personally, esp the Ruppie. Minnie ships look tricky to reskin because of all the spiky wingy bits (i.e. not that much hull area to paint). Perhaps there's scope here to make Minnie ships unique via lighting/wingy bit effects?

The Skin release blog makes it clear that CCP are aware that Minnie and Cald skins need some love. I'd prefer to give them the time to put together something really special. There's no harm poking for it, but it'd probably be more fun to come up with suggestions that build on the class characteristics and make their skins unique.

Minmatar have bigger issues than ship skins...

Besides the black cane and talwar are nice. I also dont mind the krusual (or however you spell it) skins. Its like a minny pilot literally polished his rusted hull. Now its bronze. The thing about polishing a turd, in the end, its still a turd.

Have you seen what they did with the Minmatar battleship line?

Yeah, there has only been more than half a decade where you literally HAD to train minmatar if you wanted to PvP in tech 1 ships. Clearly the fact that they have a consistent visual theme means CCP hates them and they're perennially underpowered Roll.

I agree that the Rupture could use a nice visual upgrade. Its looks is just...not the right design you shall expect on a freaking space ship...

Regarding the Rupture, Broadsword and Muninn - adding some sails / fins to it would make it more Minmatar cruiser and less cordless drill / nail gun. Something similar to the recently buffed (That extra speed buff! Shocked) Mimir's skin would be around about right - obviously not exactly the same - but that sort of feel.

Lorewise, I also find it difficult to grasp how this ship manages to target anything at all - according to the lore, the sails / fins are a combination of the required reflectors required to catch the returning lasers sent via a ladar based system, and cooling for their volatile nuclear power systems. (LADAR = Light Amplification for Detection And Ranging - also referred to as LIDAR in some cases http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidar )

Another issue is the 'Augmented' drone lines. The description reads

"Light Scout Drone

This drone has been augmented with so many rogue drone parts that it is unrecognizable from its original design. This new hybrid has a fearsome firepower."

This is a lie. If you take a look at the model for the augmented drone, and the regular base drone - you will notice they are exactly the same. I recognised them, I am sure you can recognise them - they are NOT unrecognizable.

There are loads of alternate drone models floating around in-game - an update would be cool :D.
