Black ops battleships really are fun. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up to expand your criminal endeavors.

Good reading. However it would be more interesting with some worthwhile victim and not worthless Ishtar.

I get sharing the love, but um couldnt the Proteus have just soloed both of those kills? Really need like 6 t2 BSes and 1 t3 cruiser for a nullbear?
Just curious, you are known for destroying maurders in frigates solo and all ya know?

I think that this pretty much sums it up...

One may have been enough, but a fully packed Supplies closet is far more satisfying.Pirate
Also, until CCP implements boarding of tackled ships that proteus fit isn't killing anything by itself.

Also not a bad read + 1

An excellent question. Allow me to interject.

The Black Legion customer service team is dedicated to providing those "are you fckin kidding me?" moments to our customers. Sure, a cloaky proteus is a **** move, but not as much of a **** move as dropping 15 BLOPS to drive home the point.

And then there is the "fun" of it. It sure beats doing nothing waiting for alliance op time.

This is a good question. I will answer it.

BLOP'sing (and null combat in general) is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are really going to get. Additionally, individual fleet members roles are a bit more segregated in operations deep in indian country, so that they can scale upwards when things go pooh pooh's.

So where previously in hisec I might take on a battleship in an assault frigate, it was with the unspoken knowledge that rescue for the victim was probably not going to come, and it was just me and the client spending quality time together. At most, I would have an alt on standby to provide neutral reps, when not providing links -- but it was pretty much just me and him. There was just one mouth to feed, mine.

In indian country, things can escalate very quickly. You need to conceptualize a doctrine that will do max surprise and max dps, getting you clear of the crime scene before rescue arrives, which often it will. This is very true of BLOP's, because while 5 battleships can put out good DPS on a single target and clear scene quickly, you actually don't have time to grind down a target slowly...Proteus or otherwise. Once you drop on a target, nearby villagers with pitchforks are not far behind.

This becomes more true, when one realizes that while this time it was just an Ishtar and Legion we killed, next time it could be a beast-tank Rattlesnake; but you still need to insta melt it and clear scene quickly. (To that end, I keep max large energy neuts in my Redeemer cargo hold for a quick refit to neuts before jumping...)

One should also review the hunters fit carefully. Sloan's prot was configured to interdiction-nullify through bubble camps, probe down potential targets in safe spots, provide tackle and a cyno when a target was locked -- but she couldn't do all that and also carry weapon systems... With the heavy artillery on the other end of the cyno, why would she?

Hope this helps,

F

Good read. When it comes to overkill, I still fondly remember the first time I saw caps on field, after they dropped me in low while I roamed about in a myrm. I had a good laugh.

I retract my earlier comment. I'm just a new, budding pirate and didn't have any context. Googled "Holeysheet1" and was pleasantly surprised by tales of derptardiness and asshattery. Are those Lead Farmer guys still around? Was an entertaining read.

While to hisec eyes it may seem 'overkill' to go thru all this just to bag a Ishtar and a Legion, that is simply due to lack of understanding of The Nullsec Experience.

When a hunting party forms, you have to be prepared for just about anything, because just about anything can happen.

Also, when one hunts, one follows procedure. While everyone dreams of bagging that AFK Rorqual surrounded by Nestor mining battleships ( I have seen things you would not believe......) , you take what you can get.

At the end of the day, the only questions that have to be asked is:

Was non-consensual love achieved?

Did you get away clean?

For great justice?

If you can answer a hearty 'YES' to all of those questions, you, sir, have added another notch to your belt as a BLOPS commando.

On a further note......Feyd.

Feyd.....the armor BLOP gods are stricken that you listened to the shield heathen. Go forth with a Proper Fit Redeemer, my boy, and wipe the stain of Shield Tankiness from your Armor BLOP soul.
