6km/s TrollPhanta: The New Trollceptor?

The Entosis Link changes made the original trollceptor obsolete, but there's another ship that can hit interceptor level speeds while having much more fitting space - the Phantasm:

Fit Image: http://s26.postimg.org/5tl8k92pl/Troll_Phanta.png

The ship was left with the 100 powergrid & 10 CPU to fit a T2 Entosis Link in its spare highslot. Even with the added 1 million mass from running the link, it can still go nearly 6km/s without overheating, and about 8.5 km/s with overheating. Only a few ships could catch it, and the 14 km range webifier provides a last ditch measure against even that.

If it spots anything that can seriously threaten it, it just has survive for the 2 minute cycle time, then it can cloak up (it goes over 1.6 km/s while cloaked!).

The main downside relative to the trollceptor is the cost - the ship itself is arount 700 million, and the implants are over 2 billion isk. That is, unless someone else can poke some holes in this fit.

You did notice the 30s aligntime I hope. This will do 6km/s, but only in a 200km orbit. Within your 70km lockrange, both 4km/s are more realistic, aswell as a random heavy neut curse dropping you like a stone, a maulus mocking you from somewhere, and in general you just displayed a total lack of understanding how fozziesov might work out.

A ship with the purpose to harass should not be that vulnerable to something you can build within 30minutes out of 2 mining cycles worth of ore.

The question is, can that Maulus or heavy-neuter actually have any effect on you if you're manually staying more than 30 km from any potential threats? Regarding lockrange, I might need something clarified - I heard that even if you leave lockrange (after locking a target) you can keep your target locked as long as your modules are still in range. Not sure if that's true.

Of course, the original idea behind a trollceptor was that if you start facing sigificant resistance, you just go someplace else, forcing multiple opponents to keep chasing after you. So the real question becomes: could a defending alliance have any simple measures to keep this ship from cloaking and warping off as soon as the 2 minute cycle time expires?

About three derptrons would murder this (oversized ABs fall to being webbed by multiple people), so yes. Also, leaving lockrange means losing lock. At 30s align, there isn't any steering involved. You align into a direction and click the fast-forward-button, that's about all oversized props are at unlinked aligntimes of 25s and more.

except for the first cycle, which is grandfathered by the cloak being lit, same concept as the MWD + cloak trick.

It's not workable. As mentioned, you'll have to stay within lock range.

Also keep in mind that fighters with 3 speed mods go over 6k m/s. A cruiser sized target will die in seconds.

Last I heard one of the main concepts of the original trollcepter was the COST. Looking at your phantasm along with implants it should set you back around 3~3.8 bil per ship AND pod. I'm sure everyone will fly in something that is the equivalent of 2 dreads to just stick it DA GOONS.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

that idea will end with very shiny killmail :)
with added mass from active antosis links you will be as agile as a carrier - it will be very easy to catch you even with that 6km/s (if you can keep full speed orbit at entosis range)

Both.
They apply their dps really good since the changes, however, to apply dps, they first need to lock the target. So after your carrier lands on grid, you have to wait 40-60 seconds or so before your fighters even start moving.

And another 20-30s if they killed the first target.

And then you get damped once by a 1 day old character in a maulus and lose lock. Congratz you're now a dumbmass.
