Rangers let me down last night. A great, intense game though. Alas, poor ISK, I knew you well....

Here is the hyper-intense action and glory of the NFL playoffs! (Can't directly link the video directly, you have to select the "Disappearing Puck" one). OK, not that intense or glorious for these 3 mins....

I knew from a tender age I was different.

I was afraid of coming out

I dreaded not being part of the group

I loathed those meetings, when everybody was happy but me

I cried inside every single time people laughed at their "normal" behavior and customs that I never felt as mine

I was apart, but wanted to belong

I always saw them screaming in joy and happiness but never understood them

I tried to empathize when they felt bad and cried foul against fate, but felt nothing

And then, slowly but surely, people began to notice, they no longer invited me or talked to me, they knew I was different

They no longer looked at me with the common social cues of acceptance and head nods, I was just "that guy" now

Even today if I tell others my tendency , they look at me weird and feel uncomfortable

But I try to not let that bother me, I try to just go on and ignore people

I know I am not alone

I don´t like sports, I never have, and know damn sure never will.

Thanks for reading.

Here have this, as a peace token, knowing I respect you in your choices, hope you respect mine.

Keep on!

Cheers!

Nice one Brujo, I think you ought to save that poetry in your archives. It's OK, we all know that sports-watching is another opiate of the masses. I only got interested again recently-- due to needing more opiates. Smile

That Samsara kind of reminds me of Sankai Juku. If they were a lot more disturbing. If you watch one of their live performances for about 3 hours, you sort of forget where you are and what day it is. Actually, the performances could 30 minutes or 6 hours. You lose track.

That never happens with the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. Big smile

Hehehe, Watch Samsara man, you won´t regret it ... turn your light offs, close the curtains, get naked and then use a blanket to cover yourself and WATCH it ...

Sorry for the derail :P

back to sports!

Oh yeah, I did watch Samara mate. Not long after finishing reading Kazuo Ishiguro's [u]The Buried Giant[/u. Not even close to a spoiler: Britain in the really Dark Ages, Arthur's generation are all geriatric. Christian-ish Briton and pagan Saxon villagers are pretty much understanding each other. No trouble. Except they're all Alzeimer's-like, with no memories. Grandma and grandpa get sick of it, and set off on a humble quest...

Between the ending of that one and Samsara - Office Man, I've been in process all day today. Smile

Detroit Red Wings

I have no idea if they'll make it all the way, but they're my team.

You're probably looking at a Rangers/Ducks cup final, in which case I couldn't even begin to give a good prediction on that one. However depending on how these last two first round matchups pan out I can see it going a completely different direction. But that's my early prediction.

These Lightning and Red Wings guys playing Game 6 right now are pretty dang intense, and it's just the 1st Period. Great shots on goal and equally great goal-stopping defense going on. I'm trying to imagine my picks the Rangers or Blackhawks vs. either of these teams.

Every series so far has been pretty amazing - the route by anaheim on calgary though in game 1, my lord. Interested to see how tomorrow's/today's games pan out....

Islanders out, had a good run, but seems they just didn't have the same level of machinery going. Capitals struggled with them, but they've surprised and outplayed the Rangers. (Sorry, you can see which division I'm watching) Smile

Yea, I've been pleasantly surprised with the way the Caps have been handling the Rangers, would love to see Washington in an Eastern final. Sadly my boys in Montreal have been having a rough time, but playing well overall. Of course tonight's game just solidified that solid play, but a long way to go. Would love to see them make Habs history (coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs) but I felt from the onset of the playoffs that if TB met Montreal, it would probably be early to the links for the Canadiens. Truly hope that prediciton is incorrectWhat?

Damn Caps playing all too well. I fear for the Rangers.
Canadiens and Lightning was a tight one too. Too close for bets. Man, such a great series. I regret so much time wasted watching bunk NFL. P
You non-hockey guys, Did You Know? The NHL has specific rules about Fighting. You have to take your gloves off (too much damage), but keep your helmet on (too much damage, but on the receiving end). No third-party guys joining the foit. Most fights occur because of ruff play, and trying to intimidate the other team. Therefore, teams put on Goons or Enforcers to counter-intimidate the other team. Their hockey skills might be crap, but they got size and aggression. It's a strategy call. Also, available only in North America. Apparently Euro countries don't allow this stuff.

Game on!

I just walked into a room full of aliens that are discussing how quickly people can burrow under ground to hide from the sun ...

... or that is how it feels when I come across a sport discussion by spectators

If I like a sport, I do it.
I don't get how people, who contribute nothing to the result of the game get a sense of satisfaction, victory or loss and refer to "us" and "we" when there is the most tenuous of geographical links. Such a waste of resources for people to sit on a sofa and have them gobble placebos with their eyes.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.
