Space Trash [design concern of structures in general]

This is a general concern with structure design. It didn't seem like it belonged in any of the sticky threads on specific structures.

I just want to address how structures effect the aesthetics of the game.

I don't want to propose any rules or anything I just want to say please consider how you let structures be deployed and destroyed from an aesthetics perspective. I am not saying aesthetics should trump anything else, just please consider it in the design.

MTU, Mobile Depot, and even container spam all over but especially in high sec, especially on stations and gates is nasty. It makes it feel like flying through a trash heap. Having these things clog up my dscan results is equally not amusing. Deploying a bunch of structures as chaff to disrupt scanning is one thing (it contributes to good immersion). Just having heaps of trash on scan because no one can be assed to clean up a thing that costs 1mil and has a reinforced timer is another. Making me want to leave an area just to get this junk off my screen and off my scanner is not a good design feature. I don't know how you allow one without the other. It would be great though if it were a consideration when designing new structures.

I noticed the part of the blog mentioning an idea for permanent wrecks. Flying through a recent battle with wrecks and drones everywhere is cool. Having that same trash left there indefinitely would be disgusting. The same applies to structures. The structure wrecks would be cool for about a week. A few months later they would be a constant and unavoidable eyesore.

I also enjoy the verity of different available services throughout space. Please be careful that you don't introduce a bunch of structures that players min/max to the point where every system has the same structures spammed everywhere. It would be nice if structure deployment felt unique and interesting, not just one of the same 3 - 5 min/maxed profiles.

Having POS anchored to moons is nice because it keeps ubiquitous structures out of the way a bit to where they don't seem quite so oppressively common as they actually are. I hope the new designs will keep some of the structures out of the way in a similar fashion.

Again, please just consider how it looks and feels to travel around space with the new structures you implement. It would be nice if structures we see seem important, unique, and interesting, not just like more obnoxious space trash.

You do know you can take these things off of your overview and dscan, right?

Yes and I often do.

But I think there is a problem when I am not changing my overview because I am trying to see or filter information differently but I am changing my overview to get trash off my screen.

I am just asking that we try to reduce the amount of trash in space by design, so that things in our environment are, for the most part, interesting and useful.
