The OP has a point.

I have been a member of a football club for over 10 years.

When I got to 10 years I was presented with a plaque acknowledging my loyalty - this is proudly displayed in my study.

10+ players should get some sort of acknowledgment apart from being called "bittervets".

I think this could keep some players in longer. for example, i used to work for geek squad (yes yes i know) one of the things that kept me there for nearly six years was my co workers. But at around the three year mark i was thinking of leaving (i hate retail, anyone who actually knows me, knows i'm a blunt *******) anyway, Best Buy then announced that they were not only giving best buy employees a 5 year watch, but if you were in geek squad, you could get the geek squad leather jacket.

For some reason that i STILL don;t know for, i wanted the jacket. So i hunkered down for two more years to earn it.


In other words, if CCP setup something simple like, 10 year in eve get special clothing items, or special skins, or a deceration for your CQ, or a special edition ship, or something. There might be a few players getting burnt out going 'hey i want that... i think i can hang in there for x more years/months' Then if they did one for 15 or even 20 years (yes i am sure eve will be here 20 years.) it might make some people stay or return to get said item.

I think its a win win and would show that ccp appreciates the dedication some of the old timers have had this to game.

But hey thats just me. (note a 10 year vet station is not going to cut it, its not really special. Now if it was the only station with the door open....)

Star wars galaxies . There you go i gave you an example not just of one company but of one MMORPG.



SWG is out of business, but I have experienced LoTRO anniversary recently. You got a package, content of this package varied with years your account was old. The common ingredient that everyone had were fireworks (!), permanent feature - the portrait frame new graphic (!), for older account some potions or scrolls (!).

All of this is worth very little for me. Roll


Frostys only quoted a part of my post , that post also said that i don't need nor want anything for being a 10+ vet.The enjoyment i had from eve in itself is far more then i ever wanted.
He quoted me because he was under the impression i could not give such an example , thanks to you we now have 2 MMORPG examples .


So finding 2 out of god only know how many is enough to be labeled as "normal"? I am not surprised you could name some. What I am surprised is that you think it's enough to consider it normal in the industry.

Honestly it does;t need to be normal. Its just nifty. And MIGHT make someone play longer. But who knows.

Yeah, a dedicated station dockable only by the old timers would be nice.

Be even nicer if the CQ doors in this station were openable :)

But yes maybe that damn vet station afterall and, some casino room where we can play poker or place bettings on who takes a certain region first Cool

I'm nowhere near that age, but you have my support. Back in the Marines, we have stripes sown onto the forearms of our dress uniforms, each one representing a period of 4 years military service. Something like that could be something unlocked for characters in the New Eden Store (though, if you rate it, it should be I feel free).

For 10 years or more I would not be surprised if they sent us all bottles of hand cream and an already opened box of tissues.
