Low sec mining

It's been about 6 months since I last played. Is low sec mining worthwhile? I just noticed that low / null sec ores got buffed? Or am I reading it wrong?

You'll make more money, but you'll die just as quickly. Low-sec (some of them) ores did get a buff, but the danger of going there is exactly the same.

The only way you can die is if you don't know what you're doing. plenty of ways to prevent a gank or to fight back.

The fact, that the only thing you can kill solo in low sec, is mobile tractor unit does not mean, that other players are same.

OP please just remember, that now there are ships out there, that are not visible on d-scan. So there is much more ways how to die even if you spam D-Scan, simply cause you are in location, that is not needed to be probed.

Yes it is. Close all wormholes, dead end system, & watch the incoming gates. Mining in skiffs also makes it safer.

Non peak hours is also important.

I wouldn't mine in LowSec in a Skiff. In fact I wouldn't mine in any Exhumer simply because they are not worth the cost. The only exception to this is using a Skiff in HiSec to deter gankers.

For mining in LowSec with a group I would put everyone in the following setup:

Procurer, Procurer fit

Damage Control II
Mining Laser Upgrade II

Medium Shield Extender II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
EM Ward Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II

Modulated Strip Miner II

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Hobgoblin II x5
Warrior II x5

With all 5's you get 150dps and 90kEHP. You can easily kill any small gang that tries to drop on you and you're only putting 45million ISK on grid/person.

Alternately you can just use a Retriever.

LowSec mining is more work than HiSec mining, requires more time at the keyboard (don't go AFK...), requires more planning, and more travel. Is it worth it for you? It might be. In that case picking a system with a good station refinery that's off the beaten path and not frequently visited, and having access to Blockade Runners / Deep Space Transports (cloak-MWD trick) will be your best bet.

But honestly it's probably safer and easier to just mine in a WH. You'll always be 1jump from HiSec (if you found it in HiSec) and the ore is NullSec ore.

I mine lowsec in a retriever.

Higgs anchors are nice.

People talk about how eve is better than WoW. I still get one shotted undocking in a frigate if there's a WT thrasher outside. It looks eerily similar to getting one shotted in WoW battlegrounds by a x9 level player when you're x1-4 levels.

Main reason I said skiff was the +2 stabs on the hull & able to fend off rats.

when i mine, I only use retrievers. The ore hold being the most important aspect.
