So I am looking to get into manufacturing and research again and there has been a lot of changes. I would like to know first how I would go about looking for a place to settle in Highsec. How would one look for a good station/system to do this. I heard you don't really need POS"s now and can run out of a station but was curious how to go about looking for a home for my business?

I'd recommend this little tool: http://carebearium.herokuapp.com/about/

What you should look for depends on what you want to do.
To start I'd recommend something near a hub but with low Production Index.
Luckily the carebearium let's you filter for These things :)

Just be very careful how you calculate your profits! In many cases it's better to sell your Ore/Minerals directly instead of building anything with it.

Sorry, Manufacturing index.

It's sort of an extra tax you pay when producing something.
It depends on how many Jobs have been started in a System. In a System like amarr or Jita you pay much more to build something than in an empty System.

It's a % tax, so it will be more if your produced items are worth more.

That makes it more difficult to choose: do you want to be far away from the hubs where production is cheap but the hauling is Long or do you want to produce directly in a hub and pay a lot of Money to do so?
