In-Game Events and Gatherings

Let me share this tragic event it happened about a year ago now.

I was (and arguably still am) a scrub learning my way around the game again having taken a long break.

All my mates could talk about was their massive pay days from running exploration sites down in Null sec.

Null sounded a bit too scary for me at that stage so I decided I would try LS exploration liking the look of the Gila I bought one and set off determined to become RICH

Things were going ok I completed a couple of sites and then BINGO I got an escalation about 5 jumps over – so off I went confident of the riches I was about to receive.

I am a small time player of humble means, and I live in a corporation surrounded by rich people. Each day I trudge out to the belts and spend many weary hours for small profits. My wife is getting thin and my children cry for food all the time. I wear rags so they can have shoes, so the other children won't laugh at them so much, so they can have a little pride and maybe be a bit less likely to get snatched by Amarr slave traders.

But I try hard, and work long hours. And finally I have saved enough to by a shuttle blueprint. Each day, after ten or twelve hours in the belts, I go to my workshop and build. Finally, I have finished my first shuttle. Yesterday, bursting with pride, I flew my speedy little shuttle to the corporate POS. With this swift little ship I hoped to save some time on the commute to work, so I could mine even more, and perhaps secure some kind of future for my starving wife and weeping kids.

I put the shuttle in the SMA, got out my mining boat and headed to work. And some rich corporate pig promptly stole it. What will I tell my wife? How do I explain to small children that their dinner is a glass of water again?

I am so sad. I pinned all my hopes and labors on that little ship and now it is gone. I thought my corpmates were trusty friends and they turn out to be thieves. My little feelings are wounded beyond all hope of repair. I think we are all going to starve to death now, and there is nothing anyone can do.

So sad. :(

The cat isn't looking so good either. I hope we won't have to eat it.

I have not slept for weeks. I mine all day and build all night. I have completed a replacement shuttle, although I had to sell my dear friend Scarlet as a sex slave in Kruul's Pleasure Hub and Gentlemen's Sauna. That raised enough cash for materials, but I have to get Scarlet out of there soon and I don't have the money. I must confess, and I don't know why, but this doesn't bother me in the slightest. Puzzling, isn't it?

It is galling to know that somewhere out there, some debauched, cognac-guzzling reprobate is careening drunkenly around the galaxy in the ship that cost me so dearly in blisters, scraped knuckles and sleepless nights of bitter labor. But I have been out and about in the new shuttle, which I have named Served Cold. The first place I went was the Community Shelter you mentioned, and as instructed I introduced myself to the Cantina manager, a certain Mr, Philliponi . I told him you sent me.

When my kneecaps heal I hope to get an explanation from you. I don't know what you did to Mr. Philliponi but I intend to find out even if it costs me another finger or two. He is a very angry man and now he has my wife and kids and he took my new shuttle too. I couldn't get much of what he was saying but I'm pretty sure "quel bastardo" is not a paean of praise to your virtue.

I ran into one of the Sisters of Eve later on, and she gave me a lift to the Interbus station and enough cash for a ticket home. On the way we were attacked by some CODE ships, but before the ship blew, I made it to an escape pod and got home that way.

When I finally arrived at my doorstep (by this time I had been away several days) and opened the door, Mittens was curled up on the doormat, faithfully awaiting the return of his master and family. He raised his head weakly, gave me a feeble "mew" of greeting, and breathed his last.

I don't want to complain. but I must say that I find recent events a bit discouraging.
