Moon Mining 2.0

So I've been putting a lot of thought into the meta around moon mining and how it creates resource bottlenecks and highly contested resources. While the system has been in place for a long time, and its a decent system, its way past due time to update it.

So what is Moon Mining 2.0?

First, take all the T2 reactions, and build them into a flow chart for all resources. Then, simply map that chart onto a moon version of PI, with extractors, refineries, and other structures to perform all the functions that are currently held by the extremely dated reaction system. Include an orbital structure to 'lock' access to the resources, and it'll be done.

There's also a couple of interesting options that could be allowed for, like orbitally bombarding the installations on the moons to clear them out after you destroy the orbital structure.

I think this would overall be a good change, it would allow moon mining in wormholes, remove resource bottlenecks. and create a more varied and dynamic gameplay in general.

Everything that doesn't involve a lockable/shootable ship piloted by a person to mine moons is by default a terrible idea.

Rorqual should be the go-to ship for moon mining, or the only choice.

Well this would require someone to go and get the resources out of the structure, leaving them vulnerable in the process, just like PI. And if the MI volumes are large enough, it'd necessitate many trips, so lots of chances to shoot something.

Eww. PI needs a rework as it is yet you want to model a rework after it? Just trying to imagine having to do PI on the scale of an alliance level set of reaction chains is literally giving me cancer right now.

Also known as a POS.

Interesting way of disruption, but not entirly sure how this would work as a moon is extremely large so where would they have to bombard from? Within range of the POS or anywhere they want making them impossible to ward off?

NO. Just no. Perhaps you didn't know this but WHs were actually never meant to be able to anchor a POS at all. They left the feature in after a mistake. Not to mention what region's goo would to like them to have? All of them? Or maybe just the R4/8s which actually appear everywhere?

No it wouldn't. Regional materials are there to force conflict and trade across the eve universe.

Questionable, but highly unlikely. Simply more logistics for the already few and burnt out players who handle said logistics.

No idea how the refining of the P0 of moon goo could be done with that but yes, the rorqual should have a "Siege" moon mining mode then..

Moon mining in high sec would be greate. Any other suggestion IMHO will not change much in here...

Moon mining should not be changed however I'm open to the idea of ships in some way mining moon goo
