Rocket frigates are pretty beast right now, so there's not a ton that an auto-cannon/blaster fit frigate can do to them. I personally find the long-point, kiting Kestrel to be the better/more dangerous fit for 1v1. If you think the Kestrel is scary, try going toe to toe with a Hookbill - that thing is pure **** right now.

F*** the Rifter. It still has about 5 years left on its sentence for its crimes against proper ship balance.

Thats so very true. And so sad. I love that ship but it can't keep up with most other frigates atm. Whoever used the nerfbat to 'balance' it some time ago gave it a bit too much.

I've been doing some Solo PVP in the FW areas lately.

My question is, how can I beat a Kestrel, then I'm in a rifter.

Usually they out dps me, due to having close range rockets.

Kiting them, i'd have to be more than 16km of them, at which they would just be able to MWD to me. Any suggestions ?

My current Fitting is as seen in this KM: https://zkillboard.com/kill/46170305/ (which was just another fight)

All things being equal, assuming both of you apply full damage, the person with more skill points wins. You have to do something to keep his rockets from even hitting, or from doing much reduced damage. Or just improve your own damage dealing, and note I do not imply simply stacking damage mods. There's other ways to improve damage when tracking is an issue.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

There is nothing actually wrong with that fit, but what dps are you getting out of it? 100+ ish?

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you the iconic Rifter is not the ship it once was. Personally, I'd put it 2nd to last after the Punisher out of the 12 std T1 Frigs.

Try the Slasher for a few fights. It has very little tank, but absolute range control V anything other than dual web fits. It's cap bonuses mean you can use a Neut which will beat most Blaster and Laser ships.

And it's V small sig means it is highly effective as a close orbiting TD fit brawler against turret ships. In fact the TD fit will often beat Turret based Desi's and AssFrigs.

Lol no. If only for the simple reason the punisher can't solo because of crap tier 2 mids.
