What's the best thing a new player can do with a decent amount of ISK?

personally I would mostly use that isk to buy things that will make me more isk. But fun is important too, so use some of it to have fun!

- you could train for an exhumer as suggested above, but I think it's valuable to try some other aspects of the game before you spend the training time.

- buy a procurer so you can mine even when some of the people above are in your system. :-)

- buy a hauler so you can get your product to market

- train for and buy an orca. It makes a good hauler of goods to a market, but more importantly it allows you to move your ships and stuff easily so you can try different regions in the game.

- buy some BPO's if you have an interest in industry.

- buy a combat ship and try running missions (you many find them more boring than missions).

- buy 10 combat frigates with the goal of losing them in lowsec.

- buy an astero and try exploration

Nah, man. Someone has to shoot the rocks to make the metal people need to manufacture the ships I get exploded in combat. I mined for a long time on my other character and made tons of ISK. Only after making a ton of ISK shooting rocks did I realize that I was bored and making money for the sake of having a big wallet.

One of the CODEdot guys ganked me while mining in 0.7 space. It woke me up to what EvE really is. Well, more like what it's NOT to me.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Want to make New Eden a nice place? Try this out.

I suppose it's good that somebody likes mining. I sure don't!

You have enough ISK to try a lot of stuff. Many good suggestions already made.

If I honestly didn't know what to do with the ISK, I would buy PLEX with it and carry on doing whatever. Over time, PLEX prices pretty much only trend upwards, so you can eventually cash them in for ISK - or use them to pay your subscription - whatever floats your boat.

Or, you could just leave it sitting until you feel inspired to do something with it!

When I have money outside of my safety buffer (usually the cost of replacing my most expensive ship x2) I usually just buy skill books and fill out the skill tree. Since when you discover you need to train a skill for something it's much nicer to find that you already have it and just need to put more points in than that you need to fly across the universe for something.

Of course, over the long run this can end up with some overkill, like how I have almost the entire science tree and industry tree filled in at at least one point even though most of what I actually do is exploration and small-scale pvp (plus a mission or two for corp standings and such). But on the upside, I can theoretically just wake up one day and decide I want to build T3 subsystems or something.

There is certainly nothing wrong with enjoying mining but the key to longevity in eve is to diversify your activities.

I suggest building a battle skiff to can flip the other miners in your area. Claim your belts as yours.

You could also take a bait procurer out to low sec or in a wormhole with a couple of friends in recons. Pvp'ers love easy ganks and its fun to take that away from them.

You might like to join a null sec mining crew and add a little excitement to a larger pay check.

My personal favorite suggestion to rich miners is to pick a constellation and fund a ganking squad to lock it down for your corp.

Be creative. Be emergent. Do silly **** for fun.

Start a new acct, make another miner toon, buy PLEX once trial period runs out, continue to mine until you can PLEX a 3rd acct, make 3rd acct toon a Orca pilot, keep going till you PLEX 4th acct, make that toon another miner. Then get into industry.

Join an NPSI fleet, shoot some people. Stop mining, it gives you space aids, no wait.........

I don't need twitter. I'm already following you.

Whenever someone says he is enjoying mining ...
... I wonder if they stare at their lasers ...
... or in fact enjoy what else they are doing while not playing.

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

No. I like mining too. There's different sets of challenges to maximizing the results same as PVP. Its virtual cork sniffing.

The truth is that you would want to invest it. Investments are what grow your money. Maybe an orca with some people paying you to give them mining bonus links.

If you're going to do either of the above make sure that you tank them properly and don't afk mine, exhumers and Orcas are juicy targets.

If you want to mine as a profession it'd be worth your while using one of your character slots to create a gank alt and killing some of your fellow miners, most gankers will be more than happy to show you how it all works and in the process you'll learn what they look for and how not to become their target.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

No, it's a common disorder. Don't worry though, there's a program set up to treat it.
