Annoying yes, but harassment?

Back to school for you. I'll just give a quick quote from the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

"to annoy or bother (someone) in a constant or repeated way"

Which exactly fits the OP.

OK sure, I'll go back to school I guess. Why is that though? Am I not entitled to have an opinion? Or am I only considered adult enough not to be in school if my opinion agrees with yours?

Is that what we all do as adults, conform mindlessly to a single view and single set of standards without it being ok to disagree with one another and not be ridiculed for forming our own views?

As to the use of an internet dictionary definition, ok sure. I thought I'd responded to that twice on the first page alread; and the merriam-webster use here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5731793#post5731793.

To extend my previous thoughts, if we are going to use internet definitions from a RL context, surely we should also consider this in the RL context. The RL situation is two people are playing a video game and in one session of that game, one guy/girl used a mechanic in a very annoying way to another player. Once. Not repeatedly every time that player logged in. Just in one session and with no ability to follow or continue to do so if the player did something as simple as just log off the game.

So far nothing posted has caused me to form a different view of why dictionary definitions are not relevant.

The OP was innocently just sitting in Jita minding his own business and low and behold someone starting spamming trades, this would be a minor case of harassment.

The OP scams someone and they spam them with trades until they cry a bit on the forums, not in any way harassment.

Scamming has been declared a legitimate form of play in game by CCP.

It is not clear that this [spamming trade windows] is a legitimate form of game play at all. And it is quite often the case that people who make and enforce the rules do not condone rule breaking after another person did something that was annoying, but not rule breaking. Or to make it concrete. Even if the OP did scam the trade window spammer, scamming is not against the rules. But if CCP considers trade window spamming against the rules, irrespective of the target being one who just scammed the trade window spammer, the trade window spammer may get "injury" (a warning from CCP, possibly a ban if he's done this before) to his "insult" (being scammed).

I'd be very careful with this kind of attitude, IMO.

Oh, and situation ethics noted. Roll

My attitude is fine, and thanks for the explanation regarding scamming and the possible outcomes of the goings on from trade spamming.

Anything to hinder the lowest form of game play there is has to be a good thing so making trade spamming a legitimate form of game play should be on the cards. The scammers might not be completely untouchable if it is deemed legit.

I was prepairing for a obiwan vs vader fight of the mastery of **** posting (Wich ep was tba), but after re-reading that quoted part. I would categorize this is as borderline harrassment and peronally would just laugh it off. Even though as a semi-marketeer i do realize that there are time sensitive orders that usually needs to be adressed right there and then, but would still only do tickets if that would continue on a second session (And bocking would not work).

I'm telling you again.
Stop posting here for a good while.

It start's getting to you.

And again ... it's harassment.
I even listed up why it is harassment.

Forcing a person to leave the station this way is nonsense,
because there is nothing that can stop that player from spamming everyone.

For your already shrinking, GD-infected brain:
A player has absolutely no chance of stopping a *blocked* player from opening trade-windows
or making contracts with messages. There is nothing he can do. He already showed that he
doesn't want to have anything to do with the player.

If it's beyond you to understand why "leaving" is not an option ...
... then you should definitely stop posting here, because it's not rocket science!

This is a discussion forum where everyone is free to express ideas and opinions within the rules, no matter whether they are in the minority or the majority. Where they can be conducted in a civil manner that addresses the issues and not the person, that is great. Where people address the poster rather than the idea, I often take a counter view. It's not new for me to argue against that.

So I'm not in the slightest personally affected by this discussion. I'll just always stand up for addressing ideas and not other forum members.

Btw ... someone should show you how it is to be tradewindow spammed ...
... and by your own words force you away from your staging point.

Or even better. For only 500 Million ISK I will stop blocking you from being
able to do anything ingame without constant interruption.

No petitions allowed, because according to you it's not harassment anyway.

Common sense.

i remember being wardecced by marmite but i had to move my expensive proteus through uedama, so i passed through uedama and thought haha im safe, but oh look a marmite gatecamp with logi and stuff so i burned back to gate and they were aggressed after trying to kill my crazy proteus (why didnt they just follow me and point me on the otherside grrr scrubs) so they couldnt follow me, i haha'd in local and jumped back through to uedama, i warped to the station and just as warp started the rest of the vulture marmites started landing on gate so i haha'd in local again but for some reason one the scrubs decided it would have been a great idea to spam me with duel requests. anyway it was disturbing my gameplay just like trade window spamming does Pirate

And if you had lost your ship through window spamming ...
... you could have petitioned for reimbursement.

Have a go at it. I'll log on later when I get home and we'll see who's more patient and who think his/her rights are not being respected first.... It's bound to be fun.

Yeah sure Sol, anytime you like.

Don't feel the need to interupt your ganking for plex4good just to teach me a lesson, but anytime you like is fine. You'll find me in Syndicate usually, EZA-FM is normally a good place to start looking.

That's not what is happening in this situation, but that's also fine. That's not something I can't manage and won't need to bring the issue to the forum.
