Yeah, you're right.

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

IMO, it's not the Download on Demand itself that's bad, it's the fact that a few cache files on the hard drive have turned into 72,000 tiny files, which slows down even NTFS (FAT32 would crash) trying to keep track of them. Hard drives SUCK at random access reads, and especially suck if the file size is smaller than the cluster size.

But hey, who cares, we're all moving to SSD's, right?

44, burned out and done . . . sad, but off to new adventures for you. (you will find something else to fill the void left by EVE.)

I'm 64 and still working, and I get on EVE every day, sometimes for a few minutes, and sometimes for an hour or two.

I've been playing for 7+ years . . .Shocked OMG, has it been that long!

Donate all your stuff, give it all away! Biomass your characters, then you won't be tempted to return.

But instead of this being sad, celebrate. Like when someone dies, you can mourn for them, but you can also celebrate their life. When we buried my father, we had a bagpiper play a few tunes. They were the typically sad ones like Amazing Grace. But toward the end of the ceremony, the piper started walking away, still playing, and he changed his sad song into a light hearted highland ditty, and continued playing until we could no longer hear him. We planned for that, we just didn't know how good it would all feel.

anyway, adios

OP is right in one accoount, launch time has skyrocketed since the DoD stuff. Now I'm glad to see EVE launch in under a minute, 80-100 seconds being usual.

Launcher is annoying long to kick over and load. I have found DOD to have no actually issues on my end, as stated there are tons of work around. but it really sounds like your pc needs a look over

Wait... People use the launcher? I've only used it for updates. Then after that just opened Exefile.exe and logged on like the old days.

The sad truth is that if you think things get more straight forward and simple after 44, take it from this old guy, you are going to be in for a surprise.

To buck the popular trend, I began to Rage Start instead of Rage Quit.

...and every time I get another piece of Carbon, I know exactly what CCP is getting this Christmas.

Today, CCP, I woke up and thought "**** it" I don't need the hassle.
The older get (44 now) the more straight forward irritable I get.

Well, this is the first ragequit post I have seen that blames ageism as a reason to quit EVE.

The older get (44 now) the more straight forward and simple I want things to be, I'm sick of bullshit.
But since the introduction of the EvE Launcher and now DoD I find things far from straight forwad and simple.

The Launcher is ****, I remember a time when I double clicked the EvE icon and BANG! EvE started booting up, now it feels like a 2 minute wait just for the Launcher (that's if the thing even works, and theres no guarantee of that)

DoD is ****, I'm not a computer geek but since it's introduction EvE is all the more annoying, actually to a point where I get annoyed at the mear thought of 'trying' to play this game anymore. (fps has nose dived HARD)

Too many patch days/updates are ****, now whats the old saying? oh yes... "QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY" !!!
Update this, update that, run the repair tool ad infinitum = bullshit

I have been unable to play since MOSAIC, some 9 days ago.
After that patch the Launcher would not load, after much pissing around I decided it would be best to uninstal the whole EvE client and start again, since doing this EvE WILL NOT install on my pc = more bullshit.

OP, if you are having trouble with the launcher you can try starting via exefile.exe in the bin folder. It bypasses the launcher and gets around most DDOS problems (which target the launcher method). Details can be found here: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds

I assume you realize that to use said .ExE file EVE-ONLINE would need to be installed on my pc? or did you just not bother to actually read the post and instead opt for a lazy troll comment?

Since I uninstalled EvE, EvE will not re-install, DOES THAT COMPUTE?

I could format my HDD as that seems my only viable alternative, but since nothing is actually wrong with my OS I don't see the point.
Could be a folder/file somewhere, or something in the registry since the uninstall, to be honest I don't care.
I'm not going looking for it because..... because I just don't care enough anymore.
