Out of Pod Experience

....So sad that it should come to this.

Today, CCP, I woke up and thought "fcuk it" I don't need the hassle.
The older get (44 now) the more straight forward and simple I want things to be, I'm sick of bullshit.
But since the introduction of the EvE Launcher and now DoD I find things far from straight forwad and simple.

The Launcher is ****, I remember a time when I double clicked the EvE icon and BANG! EvE started booting up, now it feels like a 2 minute wait just for the Launcher (that's if the thing even works, and theres no guarantee of that)

DoD is ****, I'm not a computer geek but since it's introduction EvE is all the more annoying, actually to a point where I get annoyed at the mear thought of 'trying' to play this game anymore. (fps has nose dived HARD)

Too many patch days/updates are ****, now whats the old saying? oh yes... "QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY" !!!
Update this, update that, run the repair tool ad infinitum = bullshit

I have been unable to play since MOSAIC, some 9 days ago.
After that patch the Launcher would not load, after much pissing around I decided it would be best to uninstal the whole EvE client and start again, since doing this EvE WILL NOT install on my pc = more bullshit.

If your are really leaving: Sell all your stuff, buy plexes, donate to Plex for good.

Sounds like PLEX4GOOD will be over before he has a chance at his current rate.

Anyway OP, wrong forum but good luck to you.

Most people in here are able to run EVE even in low end machines without an issue. So chances are your problem is not with the EVE launcher, unless you are one very unlucky guy.

Before you quit take some time sorting out your computer. Make it a PC "spa day" of sorts. You know, hardware cleaning , software sorting, drivers update etc etc. Sometimes, if not most, things get f****d up because we choose to f**k them up, ignoring the problem shouting at us "Yooo bro!! I'm right HERE!"...
And next thing you know...Blammm!! EVE launcher poded

Also DoD can be set to "always download everything" so that you never have anything downloading DURING play.

It's great for the multi boxers though and allows us to get assets via Sisi before a main patch :D

good luck on your further travels. hope you did not biomass, as you will prob come back in a year or 2 even just to see whats changed.

No offense but if you are unable to start the game because the launcher wont work for you and it all seems to be a hassle with low fps and stuff you might consider checking your end instead of complaining about the software?

I am somewhat an IT nerd and while I understand that not everyone has a good understanding of hard-/software the basic things are no problem and usually solve most problems. I never had a single problem with the launcher and I never had any problems with fps (maxed out graphics with hundreds of ships on grid) but I keep my system clean and up to date and that alone helps against nearly everything.

The launcher itself seems to work pretty well when your system is working. So again, maybe you should simply clean your hard drive, upgrade your stuff and be good after. CCP mentioned several times that their intention is that EvE runs on potato machines but there is a limit on how old your system can be. And EvE is actually a pretty good example of how games can run if the devs put a lot of hard work into it.

for a long time my launcher worked just fine but i had multiple incidents in the last couple months after patches where it just wouldn't work and the troubleshooting was a bit complicated sometimes... and i work in IT so for a normal user i can imagine to be the pure horror...

i have to give OP this: the launcher sucks big time in his unstable state.
