Time to move the clock back. A few priceless classics:

Bringing up Baby (1938) Crazy and sophisticate, all in one package. You'll learn why everybody loved Kate (Hepburn) before our Kate.
The three musketeeers (1948) Just the funniest adaptation ever, with Lana Turner making a gorgeous Milady de Winter.
Adam's Rib (1949) More Kate, now with Spencer Tracy in a funny romantic comedy with interesting reads from our current mindset.
Sabrina (1954) Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart in love. What could go wrong? Absolutely lovely film.

Enough for a friday evening, aye.

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

A lot of favorites already mentioned, so:

Dr. Strangelove
The Ten Commandments - Great story, but worth seeing for the pre-CGI sets and huge production if nothing else. Examples: A BC
Apocalypse Now
Aguirre: The Wrath of God - Slow, no plot, but weird
Platoon
Rashomon
Sling Blade
The Blues Brothers

They didn't have CGI back then (1956). Those were either real (gigantic) sets, or hand-painted effects applied directly to the film.

Kind of like they didn't have computer screens when they made 2001: A Space Odyssey so they just imagined them and hand-painted the computer graphics.

Exactly! I had a sentence-malfunction when I posted. The fact that it's pre-CGI (1956) is what makes it so amazing. They had to hand-build those gigantic sets, make thousands of live human extras look hairy and sunburnt, and wrangle 100s of horses and other animals. And hand-paint hundreds of individual frames for the special effects.

(P.S. For some nice 1956 torrid drama script writing from the same film, check this out. (Also, did they put a fake nipple under that translucent dress? Those tricky bustards.... Smile)

By the way, your toon looks like it could have been a character in that film. Well done! Smile

Also by the way, did you know that Aerosmith's song "Walk This Way" was inspired by this scene?

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

If you are ok with subtitles, allow me to recommend Akira Kurosawa's Sanjuro. Fun story, samurai fights and the great Toshiro Mifune.
