I don't know if it's just the language barrier, but "Jackdaw" does actually sound menacing to me. Brings pointy things like "jackknife" and "jackhammer" in mind. Also I think it's got a US Navy-ish ring to it. There could easily be a USS Jackdaw...

The Me 262 was nicknamed "Swallow" (Schwalbe) and it was terrifying allright. Actually if asbolutely everything in this game had menacing and badass names like "Dragon" and "Vulture" and "Falcon" and stuff, it would end up feeling childish and unimmersive.

They change the designs of the moa, condor, caracal, and to a lesser extent the blackbird to look like good looking birds of prey.

The jackdaw however, seems like it was designed by a totally different team, (the old team which probably designed the original moa, condor, caracal and blackbird).

If you don't want to change things too much, change the ariels/antenna into winglike features. You could then justify calling it the crane.

Are you seriously complaining about Caldari Skins, I'm Gallente, we have everyone in space genre gaming beat to DEATH in the ugly ships department. Navitas, Imicus, Catalyst, Exequror, Celestis, Vexor, Brutix, Dominix, Moros, Erebus. and don't forget the Proteus, the ship so ugly, that it has literally 20 special unique and distinctive forms of ugly. STOP whining, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being gouging your eyes out with a pencil so you never have to see it again) the Jackdaw is a 2.
BTW, thanks CCP for giving the Gallente the best looking of the T3 Dessies, we were about due for a turn.

lol what? Only the navitas and imicus require a redone. Dominix has been done for years, just hasn't been uploaded. All the others are perfectly fine and what gallente organic shaped ships are suppose to look like...

Been around since the beginning.

That does not alter the fact that they are UGLY, I like my horrendous Gallente ships, my Proteus in particular. I don't fly them because they are pretty, I fly them because they do their job well. It just annoys me when people start crying because their space ship isn't pretty enough. If you want a pretty ship, train Amarr.

Jackdaw. That name just doesn't fit with the ship. The T3 isn't a smaller version of a 'Daw', most consider this bird a rodent and of course, the ship doesn't steal anything.

I like this one better: Shearwater
The name just rolls off of your tongue...

Wikipedia wrote:
These tubenose birds fly with stiff wings and use a "shearing" flight technique to move across wave fronts with the minimum of active flight. Some small species, like the Manx shearwater are cruciform in flight, with their long wings held directly out from their bodies.

Many are long-distance migrants, perhaps most spectacularly sooty shearwaters, which cover distances in excess of 14,000 km (8,700 mi) from their breeding colony on the Falkland Islands (52°S 60°W) to as far as 70° north latitude in the North Atlantic Ocean off northern Norway. Short-tailed shearwaters perform an even longer "figure of eight" loop migration in the Pacific Ocean from Tasmania to as far north as the Arctic Ocean off northwest Alaska.

They are also extraordinarily long-lived. A Manx shearwater breeding on Copeland Island, Northern Ireland, is currently (2003/2004) the oldest known wild bird in the world: ringed as an adult (at least 5 years old) in July 1953, it was retrapped in July 2003, at least 55 years old. Manx shearwaters migrate over 10,000 km (6,200 mi) to South America in winter, using waters off southern Brazil and Argentina, so this bird has covered a minimum of 1,000,000 km (620,000 mi) on migration alone.

Cutting through the competition, as well as space and time. That's the name of a bird that will endure...

They should call it the Mockingjay and maybe CCP could get some cash from a tie-in deal with Lionsgate.

You know... pilots have a power here they they don't comprehend.
CCP can name the ship whatever they want but if we simply force the issue, agree upon a name and start calling it by the new title that we've designated it's going to be called by that new title regardless of what is stamped on the ship.

Question is...will the community agree on a new title and work together to change this horrific Germanic tongue twister?!

No

We couldn't even all agree on the day of the week if we tried.

The Jackdaw looks fine to me man. Way better than the Confessor. Now THAT thing is ugly especially with it's current paint job.
