Wishing I could play Eve online...

It sucks I can't play Eve anytime soon. Recently, back in December, my grandmother had a heartattack and wasn't doing well. Luckily she pulled through but it was rough. With me and my family sitting with her day in day out for 3 whole monthes in a rehab/nusing center, I COULD NOT play eve. Unfortunatly I had to leave the Corp/Alliance I was in due to some reasons both internal and because of outside forces.

I'd LOVE to get back in game but sadly I can't. Mainly because we are taking care of my grandmother still, she's at home been for a month now, but it's been very taxing on my family. She needs alot of attention, oddly enough like a child, andat any given notice, moreso at night though, she will call for something. Well because of the nature of eve, it would mean I'd have to leave my ship smack in the middle of space. While dealing with things like mining and solo missions, if I was to say get into a wormhole corp that could prove deadly. Unfortunatly my grandmother won't be getting any better than she already is so she will be needy until she passes on. We obvoiusly don't know how long she will still be around so I doubt I'll want to risk playing eve, aside from dabbling on the test server, any time soon. It sucks but eh ya gotta do what ya gotta do X_X.

I see your grandmother and I raise you an overnight desk job as a dispatcher for a police department.

A little less tragic but just as inconvenient. And yes, I still play Eve. You could do the same.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you can't just put your entire life on hold waiting around for old people to die...

I get how you feel that way, but until you put yourself in a particular situation, especially ours, you can't know how hard it can be. It's not something I can decide either and my family felt it was best to bring her home, even though she's very demanding on certain things. If we aren't able to get her dealt with in a timely manner things get chaotic really fast. I can't risk losing ships and money and skillpoints flying t3 ships even doing solo missions if I have to suddently rush downstairs. We have had several emergency situations arise where I literally had to drop everything I was doing and run to deal with the situation. In a game like Eve this CANNOT happen or you WILL lose assets. Since I don't want to risk losing hard earned ships on a whim like that, I simply cannot play. Most MMO's that are demanding like this are out of the question for now. I can simply choose to ignore her and let things happen, as you say. But then I have to wrangle with my conscience that she may fall, hurt herself and ultimately die because I was wanted to play a video game. She has fallen once already and it could have been ALOT worse than it was. It scared me to even imagine attempting to play an involved game, or doing anything really involved. Ironically I'm out of work right now so it works out great. I can't imagine how it would be if I had to work a job then tend to her when everyone else was sleeping.

Maybe you can easily ignore taking care of someone, but I couldn't live with myself if something happened to her and it could have been prevented if I continue doing what i am doing.

I'd be too scared to risk it, if I had to drop everything I was doing to deal with a situation I'd could be left vulnerable and I can't afford that. I'm not exactly rich and most of what I would need to do is time consuming, involved and something you shouldn't/can't do afk.

Learn the market and get rich. When you can finally play again use the ISK to buy a boatload of ships.

Well...don't fly t3 then...cloak for when you need to leave your ship in a safe spot for a bit...keybindings for warp off possible? People find ways, certainly you'll figure it out. ...Or yeah...market? Take care of your family first as you've been doing, I say. Even if the people are difficult, you won't regret it.

I wish I knew how, I outright suck with buying/selling. I've tried it before and I never can get prices right and I end up losing more money than I spend. I prefer either mining and just outright selling the minerals, or ratting/missions. I SUPPOSE I could mine, but my mining ship is a mackinaw, not sure if it's wise to mine in high sec, and if I had to go afk. I don't know :x

Oh it's VERY satisfying to take care of someone. It is very stressful as well. But the simple fact I'm helping someone is reward enough. At the very least I'll sit and train skills X-D.

Would be a good time to start some alts too. Just train them and before you know it they won't be half bad.

Far as I know you can't double train characters on an account without special plex or whatever it's called. Unless they changed it so you can?

No, nothing has changed. I was just suggesting to make another account. CCP have the Power of 2 Promotion still going on. You can create a new account with 180 Days of game time for $50 or 3 plex.

You could easily run level 4 missions in an overtanked Marauder. If something comes up and you have to drop everything, just make sure Bastion is running and you're good to go. With a bling armor rep I used to get something crazy like 4000 rep per cycle on my Paladin. Armor could go from ~60% back up to 100% in one cycle and I never needed more than half of that in any mission I ever ran. I usually didn't even pay attention to triggers.

You could comfortably do this with lots of other T1 or Navy Battleships as well, only difference is you'll be repping less. You'll just have to be more mindful of the triggers and take things a little more slowly while you're at the computer, so as to not put yourself in a bad situation in the event that you have to suddenly leave.

Perhaps you dislike pve too much to want to do that, but it's definitely an option.

Don't have marauder skills? Train them. It doesn't take *that* long.

At the very least, keep your account subbed and train something while you're away. You could be training some important/long/boring skills and could have some nice toys to play with by the time you return.

In summary: There's never a reason to truly leave Eve if you enjoy the game. There are ways around every RL situation.

I can't fly a marauder... And I don't have the money for a marauder even if I COULD fly one. I have t3 ships thats about all I have aside from an incursion runner that I'm not EVEN going to attempt running in. As for any other ships, t1 or whatever, I've tried these missions in battleships but I end up having issues. I don't even know what the problem is as I have skills to use these bs's. I've always had issues running l4 missions for some dumb reason I never could figure it out.

I'm perfectly content right now just training up skills and waiting for now. Nothing lost so it's all good. I do appreciate the advice but I just dont feel comfortable running around in expensive ships risking having to drop everything on a dime with 0 time to get safe.

Sell some of your T3's or your Incursion ship and invest in a mission runner? You'll make the isk back and then some.

Look into the market and start trading?

Salvage/Ninja loot Missions?

Exploration?

As much as I hate to suggest it...Mine?

Don't know what to tell you. I'm sure there's something in Eve that you could spend your time doing that accommodates your RL obligations, the only question is "Will you get any enjoyment out of it?" If it's not fun then there's just no point. I myself am a pvp'er but if I was continually made to go afk due to RL stuff, and never got a break from that, i'd probably find some way to adjust my play style. I'd take up industry, for example, as pvp is not the only thing I enjoy, simply the thing I enjoy most.

Saying "I don't understand the market. I don't understand missions. I don't have enough isk and am not willing to put up with any risk whatsoever" is basically just telling me that you're too lazy to work at anything and it makes me wonder how you managed to get past the tutorials to begin with.

Just my honest opinion, not trying to be rude.
